Default Question about DIY headliner

I had once read a thread regarding this . I dont know if it was on here or on the other lexus forum. I cannot find it in a search here.

I also dont want to bump any old headliner threads since they are mostly at least a year old.

I have some work that MAY require the headliner to be removed from the vehicle (at least, the insurance estimate included removal of it). I've been wanting to have a black suede headliner. This might be just the time to do so IF it is coming out and I would be paying a custom shop to do it (if they will). It might save me some money from having to pay to have it removed and reinstalled later down the road.

Do you think that a "re-lining" in black suede, over the existing headliner using a strong adhesive will suffice? I live in Texas heat which raises a question as to if it would prematurely droop but even if i could get a year or two out of it.....I'd need a new one soon anyway! My car is also never parked outdoors for more than an hour.

Or perhaps if it is super time consuming...it would be cheaper for me to just have a brand new black headliner put in?? I'll have to investigate prices...IF any black headliners are available. I think I read that the IS-F had a black headliner option. I would assume this would fit in my IS250, no?

How in the holy hell do I put this clip back into place? I managed to get the pillar off by just pulling hard. Now I cannot figure how the heck to get this black clip back into the white clip insert thingy on the pillar (see pics)

Top done. Trim (except that pain in the *** sunroof piece) on top painted. I also busted my moon roof dial so I have to fix/replace that.

Finally got all pillars off. Wrapping them in suede tomorrow. My only issue now is the above mentioned clips for the front pillars. Still hoping someone can chime in.

I'm also curious why the Passenger side seat belt has electronics/wires attached whereas the driver's side does not (guess that's for the passenger air bag since when disconnected the airbag light comes on I just noticed)

Pics so far:

putting the clips back on is easy, just line up the A pillar in place and take a long pair of needle nose pliers and grab the flat peice of plastic and turn it so the clip faces the A pillar opening properly, then push in and let go! i have done that countless number of times. it takes a lil practice but once done youll be happy.
