well my differential on my AWD just crapped out, dunno what the cause was, could be staggered wheels, slammage, or bad luck, just unbolted the driveshaft hoping it was minor, ending up pulling out a large chunk out of the differential

it came loose while driving and all the fluid poured out and the rear locked up, if anyone have any idea what the part is and if it can be replaced/rebuildable or do i need a new diff that would be greatly appreciated, I know I need to drop the differential before knowing for sure what all needs to be replaced inside

Your diff is toast, you have one of two options.

1. buy the internals to rebuild your current diff. (This is the expensive route)

2. buy a used diff and slap it on (The most cost effective route specially if you do the work yourself)

Now take it that you will still need to inspect the car to check if you have something causing this issue.

I would start by the drive shaft check to see if it's bent or damaged in any way.

would the rear differential on the AWD be the same as the RWD? reason i'm asking is the AWD seems to be hard to find at the junkyard

Might want to find out of the 3rd gen GS AWD differential is the same as the IS. Would increase your chances of finding the part

^^3GS AWD is just as rare to find at the junkyard

the car is back stock everything, so anyone know an easy way to remove the rear axles? or do i have to unbolt all the control arms?

The back axels should have between 6-8 12mm or 14mm bolts holding it to the diff. Just unbolt those and leave the axels on the car.

^^^ doesnt have bolts holding it into the diff, looks like it needs to be pry'd off like the fronts

is your stagger setup within 1" Overall Diameter of each other. I remember when i switched tires for a bit and i believe they werent withing the 1" OD because i could feel this weird vibration. I had a feeling it was mess up my AWD so i switched back to the old tire setup and then the vibration went away.
