Old post, but I agree here. I've been running Edge (Syntec) in my cars for years and it's always the same. It just seems to run smoother, quieter and a bit more pickup. It's really noticeable after an oil change.. I'm horrible about going over on my mileage LOL so it ends up being 7000-8000 mile oil changes on my last few cars and they've all been fine.

I was trolling the forums here looking for recommendations on oil, but I think it sounds like the Castrol Edge 5w20 I've been using will do fine..

I just use Royal Purple. It's the 1st synthetic since deciding that despite the excellent service and attention I get at Sewell, I could actually save myself some extra money. Car runs great and I'm at peace for mashing my accelerator from time to time. lol

I don't understand why or how are people using any other than the recommended by manual. I have a 2012 is250 awd ando the manual recommends 0w20

Default Is 0w-20 ok for Arizona?

You're choice - it's more important to change the oil when recommended than the weight.
Arizona gets hot in summer, like 120 degrees. Will I be okay with the recommended 0w-20. It said 0w-20 is recommended on my cars oil cap. I have a 2011 Lexus is 250.

Whatever is written on the oil cap and also in the owner's manual. For high mileage car, opt for the same oil spec + high mileage version. Key is the interval and not the type of oil.

I put Amazon Basics 5w-30 high mileage on my 08 IS350 and have no issue whatsoever. 3K miles / 3 months interval. Daily this car 50 miles/day.

I have been reading through this and am still not quite sure how often to change out synth oil and filter. The last oil change I had was in Oct I don't drive a lot just to and from work more hwy than city, since then I may have driven 5500Km, my old rule of thumb for changing oil was around once a year unless a lot of city driving then it was spring and winter but back then I never used synth oil it was oil. of course the place I had my oil change has been sending me email reminders since February, I used to always do my own oil changes but I don't have a ramp or a place to do them, which is why I loved my old ford ranger I could crawl under it do an oil change with in 15 minutes hehe
