I would definitely look into suing. Even if its for 25k or something. thats a nice chunk of change for your troubles.

No, not much interest in suing

But I believe they are obligated by law to cover damage to another if the fault of their insured. Sure, that person might get dropped or penalized somehow but...they do their job from what I've ever seen. I believe that's kind of their primary function, no? Maybe I'm naive.

I suppose if not then that's when my insurance might kick in to help. I've been fully covered for 17 years with a more popular/reputable company with minimal claims. None until the last 3 years. It's usually an easy process. Once I just went in to my rep's office.. said I had a fender bender and needed a new bumper, I handed them a dealer estimate and they printed me a check right there in the office without even seeing the damage.

Given the lack of my fault/responsibility in this combined with ANY insurance companies responsibility/purpose and the backup of having good insurance myself, in case; I feel pretty secure. Knock on wood.
What happens when the other insurance company doesn't pay you enough, the other way is to sue the other party. Since you said you had cover for 17 years I'm sure you are aware they always ask how much coverage you want. Anything past your coverage the insurance won't pay for you or the other party. Say for example the other party insurance only pays $10,000 for property and $15,000 for bodily injury. If your property and bodily injury exceeds those amounts, you will have to sue the other party to get the rest. Now I might miss some details but its a summary of how it works. If I am wrong then someone feel free to correct me.

Suing for this? If their insurance covers the damages and no one is injured that's crap.

Don't understand how people can be so incredibly stupid to hit someone at a red light. Where the hell were they looking? If your car wasn't there, would they just go straight through the intersection? possibly killing someone going the other way. Glad you're not hurt and luckily the damage doesn't look severe but I still woulda got out of my car and gone ape **** on her. Only way to make these people learn is to scare them into realizing they are driving a 3500 object and can hurt people.

Yeah I thought the same. I wasnt looking to my rear so either 1. she was stopped behind me and slammed on the gas , or two she was coming from behind and didnt attempt to stop, as i heard no braking at all. I almost went ape****. The first thing i did was get out and open my trunk, she came over, stuck her head in my trunk started touching things. I yelled at her to go sit in her car and i didnt even look her direction the rest of the time.
