Default My HID projector retrofit! (and a few freebies)

Hey fellow 2IS brethren...
I have a 2006 MRM IS250 with halogen equipped headlights....I had an HID kit in it for a while, and finally decided to swap them out and retrofit a pair of S2000 projectors. I contacted Caesar over at LightWerkz and talked to him about the retrofit. I sent them out and had Lightwerkz do the retrofit. Here's their writeup on the actual retrofit: http://www.lightwerkz.net/news/2011/...00-conversion/. A big thanks to them for their work!

Overall, what I had done to the headlights was:
-retrofit with s2000 single xenon projectors
-TSX-R clear lens (brings out a bit more blue in the cutoff)
-Blacked out headlight housing
-Blacked out amber sidemarkers
-Headlight lens restoration (forgot to mention this in my OP)

I'm running them with Morimoto 3Five D2S 5000k, Morimoto AMP ballast with straight end D2S adapters that I got from TheRetrofitSource. Matt@TRS was really helpful in assisting me in picking out parts for the retrofit, and even accepting my exchange for my original 3Five D2S Ballast for one with an AMP output.

I finally had a chance to throw all the pictures into lightroom and adjust them. The pictures are more or less what they look like in person.

I dug up a picture of my original beam pattern. Excuse the bad quality; was taken a long time ago. Posted to show the difference. And yes, that was about how wide my beam spread really was.

I have yet to be able to find a location large enough to actually show you how wide these the projectors shine.

The cutoff:

25~ feet

60~ feet. Notice how sharp it still is, and the colorful blue band.

As requested, pictures to see the black housing.

I still don't know if I would like to keep my retrofited headlights or get the 2011 with the LED's. OR Retro the 2011's! Ahh that's too much money.

^^^ I think the exposure needs to be adjusted on some of the pictures. I would assume so because I haven't seen a retrofit that bright in person. It does look nice and bright though.

It was dark when I started taking pictures, so I skipped the whole headlamps pictures. I couldn't find a place open enough to fully display how wide these suckers are lol. Yeah..the projectors are really good. Very very wide beam spread. I was originally going to find a pair of SC430s or RX330s, but I stumbled upon a guy selling his damaged S2000 headlights for super cheap (150 for the pair OMG), and I just took the projectors out. The headlight was unsalvagable, but the projectors were unharmed.

I wanted to get the 2011 headlights and do the retrofit on those...but that's WAYYY too much bank for me. I figured I'd rather save the 2k than have shiny LED DRLs.

Yes sir...some of the pictures were overexposed on accident...I didn't have time to adjust them in Lightroom or anything. Not trying to deceive any of you or anything

Looks great... do you have any shots of your headlight housing?

Did you go with gloss black for matte black?

Lightwerkz are real good dudes. They painted my headlight/foglight housing gun-metal for me.

Nope...but you can see it at BOS! I went with matte black. Thought it'd be a more subtle look. I was looking at other cars in my family, and I came to realize that matte black is a more OEM and cleaner look than standard chrome. Both BMWs in my house have a flat black headlight housing, compared to the TL and Camry (and my IS prior to retro) had a chrome housing. I couldn't find too many pictures on glossy black, but I have no regrets...matte black FTW.

Yup! They are! You're lucky you're so close to them...my packages would take about a week in transit lol...
