Default IS350 CEL/MIL/VSC problem

I have a 2006 IS350 with 61k that has been acting up recently.

CEL/MIL/VSC have all come on and the car shakes at idle and hesitation in certain rpm/speeds. Resetting the ECU when cold, I can drive a few miles before the lights come on again. Sometimes it won't come on till the next day. I scanned the ECU for the CEL codes using a Actron OBDII device and it proved me with two codes.

P0301 and P1276

P1276 comes on first (as well as the studdering at idle), and if I continue driving another 1/4 mile, P0301 will come on (with CEL flashing).

I know P0301 is a cylinder 1 misfire, though I have already replaced all the spark plugs and transfered the coil packs over from a different cylinder to eliminate those as a possibility. However, I am not sure what P1276 is for a lexus. Does any know what this code means?

I brought it over to lexus and they want to charge me $500 to begin further inspection aside from reading the code. This began to happen after about 600 miles of getting the Fuel Pressure recall done, but the dealer noted that the recall did not do anything in this regard.

Has anyone had any experience with this P1276 CEL and/or these similar problems?

Thanks!

did you do the valve spring recall? This MAY contribute to it, if you didn't do the recall.

yes, I believe the valve spring recall has been done last year.

Check your short term and long term fuel trim in Bank 1 and report back.

Also does your CEL flash?

Will have to get my hands on a OBDII scanner with real-time data to get STFT and LTFT info. The current one I have simply reads/clears CELs.

CEL does flash to indicate the misfire. The first time it flashes after a ECU reset shows the P0301 code.

the flash doesn't mean its misfiring, the flash means you're killing your cat. You can have a misfire and NOT have a flashing CEL but rather a solid, non-blinking CEL. Highly recommended you do not drive the car....check your fuel trims, if they're high, it's probably a shot fuel injector. So far you've got 2 symptoms suggesting such. Misfire, and a flashing CEL (if it is fuel injectors, its probably hot un-combusted fuel reaching your cat which is devastating for it). If you're fuel trims are double digits, you've got your answer - problem with fuel injectors. In which case I'd goto the dealership and ***** like no tomorrow and get them to good will it. Try and get those fuel trims as soon as you can. A car with your mileage should not have fuel injector issues. My car had similar issues with even less mileage. Like I said tho, get those fuel trims and you'll have a better idea from there.

I am having the same problem as dngo. In fact, I thought that he was talking about my car in the first post.

2006, IS350, 61k miles, just had the fuel pressure recall done, had the valve spring recall done about 6 months ago. The car is acting funny. It was revving without applying anything to the gas. My uncle says it is "hunting" for the good idle point. Once you get it going it seems OK, not great but OK. I am not seeing any of the flashing CEL or anything in the status window. The traction control light, ! light and the CEL are all on and the status says 'check VSC". I am going to take it to Autozone tomorrow to get the codes off the ECM. Anything else you guys recommend?

Also, do we need to replace plugs/wires at 60k miles? What other preventative maintenance should I do while I have this thing serviced? Any help provided would be great.

^At 60k it's time for new plugs according to the Lexus service schedule...though most say that their plugs when pulled looked fine.

P1276 is a open in cyl 1 port injector. check the connector. It is not the direct injector. it is under the manifold

Default Solution?

Hi, new to the forum. Has someone found the solution for the p1276/p0301 problem?

thanks

I think post #9 is spot on. With an ohm meter ohm the pins of of the Port injectors 1 and 3. These are on the right front. If they ohm the same, inspect the wires. Examine the colors of the wires. Ohm from each to ground. What do you get when you compare the 4 different pins?

Hi, I took ohm readings for all 6 port injectors. Five of them were within the 13.2 to 14.1 range, except for cyl #1. This one had a reading above 30 ohms. Not sure if it was me but the reading fluctuated continuously; did not had the issue with the readings for the other injectors.

however, found a good deal on rockauto and replaced them all for $60.

Approximately 300miles without any issues.

thank you!

Good Job! Glad that worked out. I figured it would be a wiring harness issue as it's rare an injector fails.

if anyone is still around on this post or anyome its been frustrating to say least. I've took the injector driver loose and it seems like the wires are good but idk much on wiring side but enough with some help? Think I've got something else going on elsewhere or think I can troubleshoot towards the jssue somehow

Idk where that high pressure fuel pump wiring is

From the drivers seat, Bank 1 is the right side with front to back, cylinders 1, 3, 5. The HPFP is on the valve cover by cylinder #5. At the rear of engine block is the pressure sensor.

As for cylinder #6, P0306, its on bank 2, last cylinder at the back. Its issue could be related to the HPFP. You might pull the plug and coil and swap them with cylinder #2 and see if it follows. Take a picture of the two plugs too. The electrode end.
