the most obvious is that right below the CD/DVD slot is the "mark levinson" logo.
another way is to check for the sound processor/amplifier located in the trunk. lift up the panel to access the spare wheel/tire well. flanking both sides are plastic panels. the left lid is a deep tray, while the right is a very shallow tray.
remove the panel on the right, and this is what you should see.
hope this helps.

Also, is there anything to look out for when searching for the right IS350? ie. Bad recalls that have never been freally fixed?
I've been reading a lot about the different recalls, but nothing seemed that big of a deal, at least the ones that came up in my search.
I've also, read about the stuck gas pedal caused by the floor mats, is this something i should be concerned about?
Thanks!

as far as the stuck gas pedal caused by the floor mats is concerned, as long as you have the right floor mats (read: specifically made for the 2is) you won't have a problem. there is a plastic hook on the driver's side floor that allows you to hook the floor mat to the car to prevent the floor mat from "creeping up".
hope this helps. best of luck with your search.

I see in your signature that you have a "modified" BMW M5.
Let me ask you - what exactly are you looking for/expecting from the IS350? What are your future plans? Do you want to modify the IS350 for more power, or will you be happy with stock power? Do you expect a certain level of performance (0 to 60 in X, 1/4 mile in Y)?
Based on your response, I will tell you if the IS350 is a good fit for your or not.

while i believe that the OP may be able to shed more light on that matter, i don't see or understand the relevancy of determining whether the is350 is a good "fit" for the OP.
reason being, the OP seems to have his mind made up with purchasing an is350, relegating the "fit" factor to nothing more than a footnote in the car searching/buying process.
however, i'm curious to hear as well, as it's now within the context of discussion.

I just got an '07 IS350 with 49,270 miles at the beginning of October. Yesterday, just past 50,000 miles but I didn't get an extended warranty because these cars are generally quite reliable. Mine didn't come with any maintenance records since the previous owner never went back to the dealer. You can find out the past service online or from a Lexus dealer. Just make sure to keep it running in good condition and do maintenance regularly and you shouldn't have any problems reaching another 100,000 more miles.
