newbie question here.
1st gen is250 is 2005-2007
2nd gen is250 is 2008-2010

Is this correct?

What are the differences between 1st gen is250 sports vs sports luxury? Is it the same as 2nd gen?

First gen ended in 2005 as the 2IS started in 2006 and ran through 2013. In my opinion, the first gen was a bit on the quirky side, with sporty and original (exclusive) styling. The second gen went a bit more mainstream, and added a dose of luxury to the cabin. The 3IS seems to be more of a sporty experience, with less luxury.

I have been eyeing this 2011 Starfire pearl white IS 250(non-navigation model) at Roseville Lexus(north of Sacramento) for the past three weeks. The mileage is 35,300, all-black interior, for $24,988. They told me they can't cut it more than $500, saying some kind of excuse "we spent thousands of dollars prepping this car for our showroom like resurfacing the rotors on the rear side and replacing the rear brake pads, four brand new tires." The car isn't certified. i checked the Carfax report on this listing and it's been on their lot for the past 2.5 months. Is 24,500 a good deal? I checked various car valuation sites(KBB, Edmunds, car guru) and their estimates are all over the place.

I wouldn't pay more than 13k for a is250. But thats just me i rather get a beat up one and pay less.

like 109k km for 13 - 14k for is250 and about 17 - 20k for a 100 - 110k is350

Australian model sports have: Alacantara (like suede) interior, memory seats, HID headlights
Sports Luxury has: Adaptive cruise (you don't have to press the brake pedal on the highway), semi aniline leather interior, illuminated door garnishes, auto-dimming rearview and side mirrors, navigation, memory seats, HID's, telescopic steering wheel (motor moves the steering wheel when you start car), etc. as extras.

I'd definitely opt for the Sports Luxury

Thanks. I was going by the firsst post in this thread:
Luxury Package: Same as premium PLUS memory seats, rain-sensing wipers, HIDs, power tilt/telescope steering wheel, auto dim/tilt side mirrors, illuminated scuff plates, and power rear sunshade. Usually also comes with 18" wheels but it's possible to get it with 17". Can't be combined with any other package on this list.
HOW TO TELL: If it has memory seats AND woodgrain.

Sport Package: Same as Luxury Package except you do NOT get woodgrain, power rear sunshade, or illuminated scuff plates, but you DO add the sport suspension, sport pedals, and aluminum scuff plates. Always includes the 18" wheels. Can't be combined with any other option package on this list. No longer offered on 2011 and newer models.
HOW TO TELL: If it has memory seats and does NOT have woodgrain.

I didnt realise there was such a big difference between the sports and sports luxury in the AUSTRALIAN model..
