Default Buying Advice.. 07 IS250 81k

Hey guys,

Im looking at purchasing a 2007 Lexus IS250, it has 81k on it. One owner, lease return. The car has all the bells a whistles; Nav, Chome rims, auto w/ paddle shifters, AUX, heated/cooled seats, xenon headlights, red oak trim, black leather, and bluetooth. Color: Smoke grey ext/ Black leather

Im new to the Lexus scene, my folks own a 01 Rx300, 07 Rx350, and the rest of my family also owns Lexus and a Toyota Landcruiser. So of course they are pushing me to look into an IS250.

My previous cars have been:
94 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4x4
03 Nissan Pathfinder LE 4x4
04 Audi A4 3.0 V6
05 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro
and my latest one: 04 BMW 330ci Coupe w/ SMG f1 shifting.

I have loved all my previous cars dearly, and back in 05 entered the Euro scene. As much as Euro cars were fun and exciting, they cost me an arm and a leg to fix and keep up. Now that im no longer the boy racer I was, and am finally on my own I need a car that isn't going to be a drain on my savings.

With a condo im paying off (20 yr fixed), a job, a girlfriend, and expenses I cannot deal with paying 300-400 every two months for repairs and services.

My entire family swears on Lexus/Toyota and several of them have over 100k on them and are still running strong. (Unlike me who has under 100k and am always at the dealer service dept.)

What I would like to find out is what I should expect from the IS250. Its close to 100k I know, but should I be worried? It drove butter smooth, no pings, rattles, or weird vibrations. Power was nimble, but certainly held its position with others taking off a stop. Are there any parts that have constant problems?

My plans for her are simple.... She's staying bone stock, maybe now that its at 80k, ill look for some Koni struts, or something to replace them.

Look forward to hearing your comments/replies.

Thanks,
James

What kind of lease allots 81,000 miles?!

Anyways I would not worry too much as Lexus cars are extremely reliable, my old SC300 had 167,000 miles on it with zero problems- only wear and tear stuff. Granted the modern IS has a lot more electronic gremlins, but no where near the level of its European competitors. Stay on top of scheduled maintenance and don't do anything stupid, and you'll be enjoying that car for years to come.

No idea... but it was a lease return.. The person must of had his/her company pay for the .10/mile extra

20k is a little high, if it were 17k or so would be close to I think a good price. I paid 20k for an 07' with 49k miles, 6 speed, rwd, non nav but sport package.

Whats your location? Will help determine better what that car is going for in your state.

What I can tell, options-wise, from the pics:

It for sure has the premium package, navigation, and 18" wheels.

It 100% for sure does NOT have the Luxury package, Mark Levinson, headlamp washers, pre-collision system, or park assist (about 98% sure on not having park assist, would need a better shot of front or rear bumper to be 100%).

It MIGHT have HIDs or XM radio, can't tell from the pics.

IS's are all pretty reliable, but if you are going to do a lot of driving, I'd look for one with lower miles. That would last you a long time with few hassles.

for 20k, you can get one with a lot less miles. it's crazy how the previous owner can drive 81k miles in 3 years.

81k miles is pretty high for the price. Are they throwing in a few years of warranty on it?

I'd see what else you can find before pulling the trigger on that. Seems like a lot. And the chrome wheels are fugly IMO.

Is just a base model with premium package. Fosho is not a sport package either. (no door sills/no sport pedal)
