Question 2006 IS 250 Wheel Upgrade??

I've been considering changing my 18'' wheels to 19'' or perhaps 20''. What are the pros and what are the cons or should I even change the size at all? what do u think?

my standard 16" wheels on 2008 is250 looks really bad on the car. so changing wheels is compulsory for me.

upgrading to 19" full face fsport.

*its going to look much better but damper will be more harsh

My IS250 had what they call a "staggered fit" on the wheels which means the rear wheels are thicker than the front on the factory 18'' wheels. I got after market rims on it 18'' but all the tires had to be the same thickness (the thickness of the thinner factory 18'' front wheels) now there is too much space, for my taste, on the current rear 18'' wheels that have become thinner with the new rims that I got. If I go with 19'' rims should I try to get them "staggered fit" or just let all the wheels and tires be the same size?

imho = in my humble opinion

Some poeple do fine with 20's and some people have issues. The concensus favorite is 19's.

18 is perfect for IS. you have to consider the versatility or usability of the size of the rim. everyone is gonna tell u bigger is better, but this could be costly. you mite have to change tires more often. rubbing issue mite occur.

it depends where you drive, where i drive the roads suck, i live in a historic area near downtown so alot of brick too. Im still running 18s because i know i would destroy 20s. My next set will be ISF 19s I think.

it depends on your lifestyle,if you are a rugged type that don't care about potholes and bump 17 t0 18 is for you but if you're just a typical showy driver might consider 19 to 20, will look good and give detail to your ride.

I have 20's on my car and I love the look. It's what I was going for. Big wheels and slammed. You have to ask yourself what will be the use for your car and how much/far you drive. Will you lower? Staggered means the rear wheel is wider, as in 19x8.5, 19x9, or 19x10. you can read up on different sizing for your car. Good luck on your choice. Here is a pic for reference. Not a daily driver, but I'm static. Just dropped on coilovers.

I just got new wheels today for my 06 is250. I went from 16 to 19 and it looks great.

When anyone changed their wheel size, did you have a little discrepancy with your speedometer? It seems that my speedom feels a little slower. which is not good where I'm from as emission tests require accuracy...
