the environmental paint alot of companies are using nowadays is not as hard and chips easily. A clear bra is a plastic layer that gets bonded onto chip prone areas of the car such as the front bumper, hood, mirrors, rear panel flares etc...

I would have tried harder to buy my 335i or maybe the G37. Having been dedicated to track, autocross and road clubs for the last 20 years, the lack of any serious race setups for a 6 year old chassis is a disappointing.

After only 6 months of ownership, I'm back on BMW lots trying to do the math on how to get out of the IS without loosing my shorts in the process. (no luck till I pay it down some more)

The IS has been a great car in reliability, just not the fun I was hoping to find.
I learned the hard way that reliability means nothing if you just don't like the way the car drives and cant fix it.
Food for thought.

Unfortunately there are only a few packages available with the manual transmission, so I was somewhat limited by that, but if I could go back, I would have ordered the exact same car. Was only 5 months ago though, haha.

Here in the Northeast the ratio of AWD to RWD is probably 90% to 10% so i had a limited choice of options and colors without having to " special order ".

I was happy with the color choice of SGM/Black with the optional 18" wheels but that was the only option. If i knew there were other choices and availability was better i would had looked for :

Silver/Black with the 18" F Sport wheels , Nav with the optional HID's !!

All in all i am still very happy to have made the choice i did at exactly one month ago today

Mark Levinson system and Premium Package (with the auto-dimming side mirrors that tilt down). Maybe swap the paint for Starfire or Matador Red, but I really like how well the IS wears the Obsidian. Maybe even opt for the facelifted '09 too, I like the lobster claws (which I bought and installed on my own '08) and the white-stitched black leather, though I dislike the green-face clock and the loss of the moonroof dial-switch.

If I had to do it all over again, I would wait for the model year that offered the cashmere interior with the black carpets. I would also get a later model, so it wouldn't have as many recalls!! Otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing!

Not quite right. Yes, Mark Levinson stereo is desirable (wish mine had it). No, it doesn't come as part of the luxury package (which my car does have) with the sun shade and auto-tilt mirrors, it's a separate option.

I thought this was an option with the ML sound? HA HA!

I wouldn't change a thing on my 350. Granite Mica, Luxury Package, DVD, ML, F Sport suspension, clear bra. The 1st owner built it perfect right out of the box. Oh, and they didn't drill the front bumper cover for the liscense plate bracket.
