I mean most places do mention the kelvin but their inventory is different and some are off. The lense is a good thing to point out but I doubt it makes a difference. The 0603 LEDs I bought from Niktronix had a yellow lense but it came out perfect white. I think all white LEDs have a yellowish lense and colored ones have clear.

So I finally got everything installed, and sure enough the 0603s in the radio are a nice cool white. The nav button white looks fairly yellow in comparison. Not super happy because my inner perfectionist isn't going to let this fly. I just ordered a ton of white 0603s from unique-led and plan to attempt to use them for the nav. So much time already...I guess this is the cost of DIY.

On a side note the best way to remove the smds quickly is to use two solder irons on each side, it should pop right off.

anyone have pics of the boards from the nav/dvd changer? board layout maybe?

So when you put the led's in, did you just solder them directly in, or did you add a resister too? or just 3-4 led in series per bulb?

Has any one attempted to change the compass LEDs in the rearview mirror? I wonder if it's even possible?

My results I plan on installing higher resistance resistors for at least the white leds on the radio because they are way too bright! I used 0603 white leds for both the nav and the radio so the colors match (cool white).

Give it a try! I'm soooo tempted to do it! I see no green in my car but when I look into rear view mirror and see the green compass and dimming light, I get mad. I'm sure it's do-able but I want to figure out how to take it apart first. Every time I try to take apart something on my car without any directions, something always ends up broken. So the 0603 LEDs all around worked? Right after I said that, I actually found 1206 LEDs that perfectly matched my radio out of a dollar store LED strip lol.

You made me want to upload my own pics. I don't think I've seen a person who did the swap on a non-NAV. Also changed out the footwells. Pedals and a FlyAudio in my future to finish my interior!

Didn't want to stop there, also did the gauges. Much easier than the center.

Me no like the green at all! I might try changing it out tomorrow!

Nice! I'm debating doing the blue needles.

I'd say definitely do it. Like two weeks ago, I rode in my friend's IS to Autozone for parts and realized how much better my blue looks compared to his white needles.
