DIY: How to swap LEDs
#17
for the amount of money Tim charged me to do it, I think it was well worth it to just pay him to do it, but that's just me.
Especially with a 1 day turn around time, and I shipped everything to him from out of state so even with that down time, it was worth it to not be nervous about messing up the circuit boards.

So I have started to swap out all the lights across the dash, but one thing I'm noticing is that the white smds I got from unique-leds, and the 74-xhp (etc) I got from super bright leds are more of a yellowish white than a cool white (using the gauge cluster, and clock as a reference) I was hoping for. Is this common amongst the dash swaps? It's kinda hard to tell in photos.
I was almost thinking of using a blue marker of some sort to tint the leds a bit more towards the blue end of the spectrum.

The different types of LEDs (like 0603, 1206, 3mm, 5mm) seem to be different shades. If you want it spot on, you can try using 0603 LEDs for everything. It'll work. Otherwise, look for LEDs until you find a perfect match. I tried your marker method with vinyls and a Sharpie but too blue.

I can't tell you how much of an issue this is for me! I did two dash swaps for two members on here and the LEDs didn't match for both. The NAVI was one color and the radio portion was another color. I did one member's white, the NAVI section came out like 4300k while the radio and everything else came out like 6000k (which is what I prefer). Then a did a member's blue. The NAVI came out perfect but the radio (0603) LEDs came out almost turquoise even though it's blue.
