Default My battery died - CPO

Not much of a story here, but I bought a 2008 IS250 CPO on 4/2/11 and on 5/2/11 (after not starting it for 4 days) it just goes *click click click* when I press the ignition button. It is stored unlocked in a garage and no accessories were left on, iPod was unplugged, etc. The 'eye' indicator on the battery shows no color at all, just plain clear. I checked the connections and everything was tight as could be. No corrosion on the terminals. The water level was fine so I put it on a 4amp charge for 1.5 hours. Only then would the car start after a few tries, but it was struggling significantly. I drove it for 30 minutes over 3000rpm and turned it off, same problem - *click click click* first two or three tries, then finally it will stumble to life. It runs like normal when it does start (lights, radio, A/C, windows), so I don't think the alternator is having trouble.

Should I take this up with the dealer? I believe a battery check is part of their CPO inspection. I've only put a couple hundred miles on it in the month since I bought it and never let the battery drain or idle more than at standard stoplights.

I had almost the same exact problem. Came out one day and the car wouldn't start. It's a 2007 IS 250 AWD that is CPO with 30,000 miles. Got a jump from the neighbor and took it to dealer where I purchased it. They gave me a new battery no questions asked and best of all, no charge! good luck

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm sure it will vary by dealer, but it's good to know some have had luck.

The battery in my 2IS died when the dealer tried to start it up for my test drive (before I bought the car). Fail.

Take it back to the dealer, they should fix it goodwill. Batteries aren't covered by the CPO warranty of course, but the dealer should take care of this for you since it happened so shortly after you bought the car.

LOL! Ultimate fail... I hope you used that to negotiate a better price.

Anyway, as other have said, you got a good shot at having it replaced for free since it's about a month after you bought the car.

Bring it in ASAP. The sooner you bring it the better your chances are of getting a free replacement. Good luck. Hope it goes well for you.

It will vary by dealer but any good dealer should def be willing to swap out the battery for you with no charge. I bought my car CPO about 3 months ago and I just noticed the brakes vibrating last week. Took it to a dealership that didn't even sell me the car and they ended up replacing my back brake pads/resurfacing the rotors for free.
