Default Went to the drag strip - 08 250 A6 RWD

So nothing huge to report here, but figured maybe someone else was wondering what to expect from their 250. I ran 3 or 4 times, with a best of 15.9@87.3 which is the highest MPH for an auto 250 on dragtimes.com. Outside temp was about 83F and I put it in PWR mode before I found out here that Normal is the best setting. Also let the car do the shifting in D. It was just stab-n-go!

Here's my timeslip

Would an AWD be quicker?

I would think it would be slower. Traction isn't a problem with 200hp, so more grip won't improve times. The added AWD is heavier which should add a couple tenths overall.

It should be faster since you will have a better a better launch. Better launch = better 60'.

Also, did you turn off the traction control?

The car has more grip than the engine has power. Traction is not a problem on a prepped race surface, AWD will not have an advantage here.

No, I didn't turn off traction control - again, the car doesn't have enough power to overcome the tires and sticky VHT on the track.

what's vht?

ppl in 350's have turned off traction control for some of their best times. Isn't 300hp too low to need to do this as well?

350s make 50% more horsepower and 49% more torque than the 250s - that makes a world of difference!

Congrats on running your 250 at the drag strip. Not many people do. It's a great experience and doesn't matter what you drive (I've seen minivans at these events). Drag strips, AutoX, and tracks are the best and safest places to test your vehicles performance and limits. Sure a little $$ is involved but ultimately its the safer alternative to running on surface streets. Not to mention along with the experience you gain from something like this, there are plenty of people (drivers and spectators alike) brought together by*competition *and a shared passion for motorsports that makes this so fun!!!
