did you WD40 it? you really got to twist the tip back and forth, back and forth quite a bit of times. when the tip twists about like a cm just yank it straight out. i put my two feet on the muffler canister for support and pulled it straight out. you'll get it out, just put some muscle into it. and yes there arent any screws holding it in place.

Yeah, I was afraid that I'm gonna pull out the whole system. I'm gonna try feet on the muffler next, lol.

Amazing what frictions between material can do, lol.

Is it simply reverse procedure to put the new ones on, or does something special need to be done to get it started? I bought some GFX lips from a member here but have not found any instructions on how to do this...

Yeah they have grooves that mount on to the muffler tips, just slowly start pulling on them and moving them side to side to take them off might feel a little hard at first but just pull on them thats it. A screw driver with a cloth could help by prying from the back and to put them back on just push them back in place and with some cloth and a mallet hammer away really simple stuff

I took mine off today as they look like cr@p , was super easy with some WD40 and used hammer on back side to pry it out from left to right. Polished the tips up and re-installed using rubber mallet .

^Nice before and after there!

To help with the uninstall of the tips, it'll be best to do it after the car have been brought to temp and driven around for a bit. The heat will help loosen up the rust and whatever else that has accumulated there over the years.

Good to know they look like this off. I honestly thought someone Tac welded a tip over what I thought was the oem tip. I planned on popping them off and putting different tips so I'm pretty stoked to know it's even easier than I planned for. I haven't searched this yet just cause it's not on my main list but def good to know.

Thx for all the tips. My AP2 tips will be arriving today. I will bring the car to temp as suggested.

So that black carbon stain at the bottom of the tip can be polished out?

Yes I used a wire wheel followed by polish heavy cut with and orbital. There are still some small pitting from road salt etc but can't notice it.
