are tire pressure sensors always on?
So ive read a bit about this and have even talked to Sewell and there seem to be 2 schools of thought or answers.
first would be these are always transmitting signal even if the car is on or off from the moment the battery was installed upon assembly. Meaning if you buy a set from a dealer and they had the specific ones you bought on the shelf for 3 years...then you get 2-5 years out of them (most people say these last 5-8 years).
now some people believe these only transmit when mounted on the car or if the car is running.
This would mean they obviously last longer but I have taken one of these apart and there is no ON/OFF type compontents that Ive seen so I find this hard to believe.
What do you guys think or what is your experience. Im asking because I got my hand on two sensors off my buddy's 2009 and they would work with my 2007 im trying to decide if I should sell them and let someone else use them since I dont need them right now or should I hold out since my sensors are about 5 years old.
I would hate to save these and have them just using up their life on a shelf when they could help out other memebers that would buy the two and replace sensors that have gone out now.
