Does anyone know how I can make the paddle shifters faster on my 2008 IS350? I had a newer courtesy IS250 and it shifter way faster than mine making it more fun using the paddle shifters.

I asked the techs at the Lexus dealer but were unable to tell me what I could do to my car, same transmission is it their programmed OEM ecu?

The paddles are not shifters. You can't shift the car yourself for any year. You're entirely imagining a difference in a feature the car doesn't even have.

The paddles are top-gear limiters only. For every year of 2IS.

Test drive an IS-F if you want to feel what real shifters feel like.

hey man I have driven multiple IS's from 06-08 and 10 and 11 and yes there is a difference, when you're using the paddle shifters on models 06-08 the gear change is more suggested than 09 or newer model, I have brought it up at the dealer but their response is they just come newer like that however the transmission are the same. Test drive any IS 09 and newer and please get back to me! and yes the ISF shifts super quick they are pretty close.

ps, and on any of the 09 or newer ISx50's you can use the paddle shifters at any time without moving the shift **** at all it's awesome thats why i want my car to be able to do that

no reason... just looks good on the steering wheel. the 08 paddle shifting is a big joke.

Funny this thread popped up when it did. I almost never use the paddles since they're borderline worthless (no matter what year your ISx50), but I decided to play with them today in my 2010 IS250 loaner car, and they do seem to be a little more responsive. Anecdotal yes, but I'm pretty sure there's a difference.

Also worth pointing out is that in the '09+ ISx50s, you can use the paddles while in drive.

They're probably faster on the loaner car because the transmission ECU is still in the Learning Mode. Or everyone who drove the loaner, gave it the beans, so the transmission set itself for Sporty Driving. Go to your car and disconnect the negative terminal on your battery for a minute. Then go for a drive, your transmission shift points will be reset and it'll feel like your car is faster.

That thought crossed my mind and I actually did reset the battery on both my car and the loaner so that I was comparing virgin ECUs within days of each other. The loaner feels more responsive. The fact that I have an IS350 and the loaner is a 250 makes it even more odd. I'll do some unscientific tests later today when I pick my car up.

The point is that the IS-F actually allows you to shift gears, the ISx50 doesn't. If you think the IS-F shifts quickly, wait till you drive an LFA.

The 250 and 350 don't have the same transmission- it's possible you're just noticing the difference in gearing.
