Default New 18" tires for my 2IS, comments on my selections needed

So I purchased my '06 IS350 one week ago and the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TTs are nearing on end of their life span. Tread wear bar is near and there is in-between tread cracking on all 4 tires. Time for some new rubber.

I REALLY wanted to get BFG KDWs...but they're back-ordered by all companies. So I'm SOL there. I've had bad luck with Yuckos and Kumho...so those are out of the question. Had good experience with Bridgestone, BFG, Goodyear, and Neo Gens. I'd like to get 300 treadwear or greater. Been eyeing the following tires :

Goodyear Eagle GT
Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport
Falken FK 452
General Tire G-Max AS-03
Continental Tire ExtremeContact DW
General Exclaim UHP

Anyone had personal experience any of those tires or opinions? The above are staggered front/rear sets with factory tire sizes/specs.

Thanks!

I'm about to install the Falkens on my car this coming Tuesday. I'll give you my first impressions later in the week.

Consumer Reports just came out with their annual tire ratings. I was going to get Pirelli PZero Neros, but the 255 size is back ordered. Had to have tires now, so I got Michellin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. Expensive ****ers!

Check out some Toyo's and the Hankook Ventus V12s. Toyo makes some really good tires and Hankook Ventus V12s have been getting some pretty good reviews here too. I found Falken FK452s to wear fast though, they are almost done on my sister-in-law's Acura TL and she's only had them about 15k miles and she does the regular rotations and checks air, etc.

After having a set of Toyo FZ4 cup badly on me and getting told to pound sand, I would never buy a toyo tire again. I knew of 2 other people with the same tire in the same size have BAD cupping problems.

I see summer tires and all season tires in your list. If you're looking for summer tires, I'd go with the Continental DW. This is based on research rather than personal experience. I'm pretty sure I'll be going with those next, unless the Michelin PS2 magically becomes half price.

Being in SC, I know you're not going to see much snow if any, but check out the extremecontact DWS. I had them on a GS400 that I sold and they will be next on my IS350 when I need to replace the junk potenzas.

I need a new set of 18's also. Been eyeing the yokohama avid envigor, seems like good reviews with good tread wear. Also the Kumho ASX.

Anyone have opinions on the General options?

I would rather stick with an all-weather tires due to the fact that when it rains here in Greenville...it pours. And due the geniuses that created roads around here with NO drainage, we encounter plenty of standing-water and minor flooding at times. But...because I have opted to keep what was my DD '95 Civic EX as a beater vehicle, I could use that instead on rainy days. Hmmmmm, decisions decisions.

^^ Summer tires can be very good in the wet. They get iffy in freezing temperatures and snow. For SC, I wouldn't worry about all season tires.

The Hankook Ventus V12 is proving to be a nice tire on my 2IS/18". However, they are louder than most on imperfect roads. For the money, you cannot beat them.

Valid point, I'll have to specifically look at that then.

Just noticed there is a specific tire/wheel section...mods, feel free to move this thread there. Thanks!
