Default Need advice from bodyshop expects!

So I had to bring my car in for repair due to someone sideswiping me on the highway and clipping my front bumper/driver side fender area. The damage was minimal. I'm getting my car back tomorrow morning and the body shop was telling me all they did which wasn't much but the entire front bumper was sanded and repainted and the drivers side fender was blended/painted only in the damaged area and then entirely recleared. They obviously removed the front bumper but they said that they didn't have to remove the left side skirt to clear the fender. Does this sound odd? How could they clear the fender down below without removing the sideskirt?

If the taped if off the area on that whole side and left the fender to spray. depending if they did the whole fender or just blended in the small area to be fixed also.

With any blending, the entire panel needs to be recleared. Most shops don't paint where it's hidden. So the fender-area behind your sideskirt will not be repainted again.

Yes they blended the area and recleared the whole thing. I just wanted to make sure that was the proper way to do it.

Haven't seen it yet, picking it up tomorrow morning. This body shop came very highly recommended and after touring their sop i can see why. I feel like they should have their own show on Discovery channel as they do so much custom work, mainly hotrods.

well the proper way to do it is remove the pannels completely, sand, re spray, and then clear coating. However the other way is much cheaper and quicker so it really depends on how long you plan to keep the car. If they warranty it then why not...if it starts to peel because of peices they taped off you can go back- reputable shops around here either do not do it at all or will do this upon request with no warranty like if your trading your car in at the end of a lease. But they have always advised against doing it this way for a keeper.
