Unhappy Headlight problem need advice

Hey guys, so today after washing my car, I noticed that my drivers side headlight looked very foggy and wouldn't turn on anymore. They were blacked out by Tommy @ music box. I also have the ijdmtoy drl's, which can only fit without the covers, which might have caused water to get into the housing and short out the ballast. Does anybody have any advice or suggestions how to fix this? Or will I have to buy a new headlight?

Thanks

you can try using a hair dryer to clean out the condensation but you'll have to replace the ballast.

it's probably not the smartest idea to drive without the covers, water will get into it way too easily.

Do you know where I can get another ballast?

@ Josh: yeah that's what I'm going to do once I get the problem fixed. I feel so stupid >.<

Thanks for the feedback guys!

At that time (November 2010), I had drl's which didn't have a decoder so I could put on the covers. Got the ijdmtoy drl's a month ago and completely forgot about the ability to drill holes in the covers as Josh stated.

^^ very helpful thanks!! So I'm guessing just try and get all the condensation out of the light, replace the ballast and them I'm good to go?

yea. OR you can get rid of the condensation and take out any signs that you tempered with the high beam, city light, low beam and bring your car in saying condensation got in the headlight and your ballast fried.

I was going to do that but I ended up fixing my low beam HID.

^^ only thing is that my headlights are blacked out and my service advisor is already aware of that. I think I'm just going to get a new ballast and see what happens after that

i think you have to replace the ballast under the headlight then but I may be incorrect. Just make sure you get all the water out before you close it up again or you'll get condensation. It took me a couple attempts to get it all out.
