Vertex Front Lip and Rock Chips.....
Hey guys, ive had in authentic Vertex front lip for around 2 months. And i just realized this weekend how bad the rock chips already are on it. The previous two front lips I had did not do this. My paint guy is really good. I am wondering if that is just what happens to the Vertex or is it something my paint guy didnt do. Can anyone with one chime in. Thanks

they didn't spray enough clear coat this time maybe, bring back to them (pay if needed) ask them to spray one more layer of clear. i drive on freeway all the time (5 days a week), and i asked my paint guy to spray extra clear coat on the front lip, been half a year, no rock chip yet, , you can't have your front lip rock chip free but this will help.

The lip must be cleaned and free from oil, silicone, mold lubricant.
There must be "paint adhesive primer" before the layer of real paint so that the paint sticks with the surface very well, finished by nice Clear Coat. The paint itself must be fortified with "flexibility enhanced additive" so that it becomes soft and doesn't prone to chip.

My experience with fiberglass is that the paint chips very easily and is more noticeable when chipped..usually the abs plastic or poly urethane kits are more chip friendly and not as noticeable..If you use your car as a daily driver, I would repaint and add a clear bra especially on the lip..

Not sure if you have any autobody skills, but there is a good thread about DIY painting...

touch up paint that temporarily. get it resprayed later down the road and clear bra it then.
im assuming your painter didnt heat up the paint that well or just not enough clear coat like some of the members are saying.
