Default Lease Pricing Opinions

I have a friend that works for corporate. He recommended me to a nearby dealer and they quoted me some leasing pricing.

I know the bottom line numbers are excellent but I just want to get everyone's opinions from past experience if the leasing numbers they provided are a good deal.

Bottom line on the IS250 AWD with Lux Plus Pkg, Navigation, and Dest fees is $37,766 (that includes the special $1000 loyalty discount program they are running). MSRP is $42419 so def a great deal.

The numbers provided me for leasing are:

36 mo/10k miles : $467
36 mo/12k miles : $488

Both include only fees down, which will be approximately $1700.

My lease evaluator program rated it as outstanding but wanted to get more opinions.

Thank you in advance!

My lease is 48 mo/12k miles: $524. From Austin, Tx dealer (was also in the "loop" so to speak, but didnt get much out of it).

My suggestion is dont lease.
Sometime this year I'm switching to a buyout, tired of being "stuck" if i find an upgrade that i want (C6 Corvette specifically )

Looks good to me.
Your not stuck in your lease heyarms. All the dealer has to do is pay off the car same as you would if you were doing a loan.

I leased my IS350 awd last week and i got them to go down to $453/36 months. Of course i was putting down 5K (including taxes-fees). It had all the packages except for the F Sport package. MSRP was 46k and selling price was at 42K - 1K for the loyalty program. It wasn't a bad deal. I think you can do better with than $388 for a is250. You can probably get them down to atleast $350. My advice is to shop around and talk to other dealers. Make them fight for your business.

I would like some ideas on tax breaks of leasing vs buying. I use my IS350 for business and take the standard mileage deductions. If I lease a new one and deduct my lease and mileage am i better off?

My thought on leases is, if you're going to be a repeat leaser, then extend your lease as long as you can so you're: a) getting a lower monthly payment and b) not dropping more money on the next lease sooner.

For example, say you drop 5k(dp+tax/title) and end up with $450/mo over 48 months and you do this over 3 leases. You end up spending $79,800 over 12 yrs with 3 cars(26,600 per lease). Now if you compare it to a 3yr lease over the same 12 yr time period(4 leases), you'd typically have a much higher monthly payment due to the shorter lease term AND have to drop an extra down payment w/ tax and tags! The monthly difference is somewhat of a negotiable so it will vary greatly on each lease deal, but the extra 5k down payment over the same time period is a guarantee. All things being equal of course.

As far as your deal in particular, they JUST had a lease deal expire(2/28) for 339/mo for 36 months on is250's! I would try and work that if you can!

You are also in Texas, which is a terrible state to lease a car in.

Different states are have different laws about how you pay for taxes on leased vehicles, Texas charges it for the FULL VEHICLE PRICE and then pro-rates it over your monthly payments.

http://www.leaseguide.com/Articles/texas-auto-lease.htm

Also, you are never stuck. You can at anytime buy out your car, or have a dealer buyout your car, essentially trading it in just like you would a car on financed. If you're lucky, you'l even get to avoid paying taxes on the new car for the value of your trade-in.

However, you buying out the lease is a terrible idea because, again, you will have to pay full tax on the residual value of the vehicle (because the lessor, not you, paid the tax the first time around). Double dipping by the state? Sure, but that's how it is.

To OP: I'd recommend you switch to a 4 year lease. The cars warranty lasts 4 years, and you'll get a lower monthly payment.

I think you can do better than that. I just picked up a fully loaded 2011 350 a week and a half ago for $500 above invoice and only put $800 down. I also got my last payment back for my lease I traded in so I really only put $346 down. Which in my opinion because you're renting the car, the last thing you want to do is put a large down payment on it because at the end of the day the car isn't yours. Unless you intend to buy it and just want a cheap monthly payment then do it. My payment is $653...this may seem high but I didn't put anything down. I'd shop around. That isn't a bad deal, but it isn't great either I don't think. Just my 2 cents.

Leasing is generally better/easier because you can deduct the lease payments themselves, rather than scheduling depreciation of the value of the car over the years you own it.

If you use your car 50% of the time for business, you can deduct 50% of your lease payments. Simple as that (mostly, you can only deduct so much up to a certain dollar limit).

Also, don't forget to keep receipts for gas, insurance, maintenance, and repairs. You can deduct those too.

I leased my 09 brand new in 09. It came with navigation 18's and factory hids. That was one of the standard packages for the 09/10 is 250's except the one with hids seemed to be more limited. The msrp was about 38500... I forgot what the negotiated price was but it was somewhere around 32800 plus ttl... I leased for 36 months with 15k at 472 after taxes per month with 1500 down... I regret not just putting down just the drive off fee... The residual was 50% and the money factor was .0009 if i remember correctly

My lease has got to be one of the worst lease in the entire world. Of course, my credit problems didn't help.

2012 IS350 w/ F-Sport Package, Nav, Backup Camera.
Sticker: $45,810
Discount: $3,094
Offer Price: $42,716

Down: $4k (out of my pocket). Total down is $4587.01 (Lexus promotion: Lexus makes 1st payment).
Monthly payment: $587.01 (including taxes)
48 mos/15k

The good part was the Lexus promotion. I got my car at Longo Lexus at El Monte, so they didn't discount much. Not to mention I got the car in 2011. At least I was able to get them to throw in the rear bumper applique on.
