Default Stock rims chipping

Hey guys, I have a question about the 6 year/ unlimited miles rust warranty. My stock rims looks to be peeling away and rusting. It's starting from the inside so it's not like they can accuse me of damaging them from hitting the curb. Any idea whether they will repair it under warranty? Thanks!

I'm also experiencing this issue. I have a feeling though that its not covered since its not actually apart of the body... kind of like your brake calipers or exhaust rusting.

I wasn't able to do so at the Lexus dealership in Watertown, MA. The rims on my girlfriend's car are peeling, but the dealer said that since the car was out of basic warranty, it would not cover. However, I had another guy tell me that he was able to do so without a warranty too at another dealer - so I guess it's a matter of luck and persuasion

If it's corrosion you dealer will get them redone. But only if you under you 50k warranty. It's not part of the rust warranty. Cause I had mine done all four rims even all the curb marks were fixed no question asked.

Thanks for the reply guys. I decided to call up Lexus customer service and explain my situation to them. An appointment was made and an electronic letter was sent to my dealership. They will be checking it out next week. The lady was very polite about the situation even though my warranty expired 4 months ago. She took it into consideration that I only had 37k miles on the car. We'll see how everything goes when I take her in. I'm also getting the latest recall done. I'll be back to update everyone.

Yeah on my 08 IS the rims started to chip off paint at like 25K (not from curb rash) and my dealership had them re-done fo free!

Let us know how it goes

I have chips on my F-sport wheels (The 18" wheels that came with the 2011 F-sport package) and I only have 1500 miles the car

It's ok....it matches with my rock chipped hood...pretty soon my whole car will have "freckles" =/

Seriously, i have NINE of these rock chips on my hood alone. NINE!!!! All down to the metal >

I clear bra'd my entire front bumper. I didn't think the hood would get THIS bad so soon >_< My 08 IS paint seemed a lot stronger....that or the LA freeways are more brutal that they were last year.... but I'm thinking it's the paint being thinner/weaker =/

Yes Lexus paint is very weak, thats why I clear bra'd my entire front end when I got my car 3 yrs ago and is been worth it to the day, my 212 black still looks brand new.

I had mine refinished after complaining to Corporate. They did a decent job, but missed some spots it seems as it is coming back in some areas.

How long after it was done did you notice it starting to peel again?
