I got my IS350 with aftermarket wheels. I got a set of OEM wheels and tires last November. I thought my aftermarket wheels got the TPMS on, but when the tire shop took my aftermarket wheel apart there was no sensor. Now im driving without any sensors on my OEM wheels and theres no light on the dash. I will check the spare tire tonight maybe its there.
You're trying to do what I did when I had wheels that didn't support TPMS. Take all your sensors and put them in your spare tire (no need to "mount" them, just deflate the tire & toss them in, reinflate). Works like a champ - it's the same principle as the "TPMS Pipe Bomb".
And in case you're wondering, I actually DID have to use my spare tire once will the TPMS still in them. Surprisingly, they survived the ordeal.

They had to be somewhere. It would be been interesting if they weren't in your spare (hidden pipe bomb?).
I called lexus for a quote of a $100. But the guy said he needs the ID# off the sensor in order to program it. So even if I wanted to buy them from tirerack and have them install them along with mounting and balancing the tire how the hell am I going to get the ID#'s off the sensor then? The dealer said they would have to take the tire off in order get the ID# off the sensor. Unless tirerack gives you paper work with the ID#'s?
What the local Lexus dealership told me was that they would attempt to obtain the ID's w/ the scan tool, IF the scan tool could not pick up the ID's for some reason then they would have to charge extra to dismount and re-mount the tires in order to physicall look for the ID's on the tmps itself. In the end they were able to used the scan tool without any issues so no dismounting required...
I just talked to my dealer and they told me the tpms sensors have to be holding air to be acknowledgeable by the scan tool. I tried to bring just the sensors in and they couldnt help me..They also want 160$...Everyones got a dealership story
for those who did the spare tire trick did you guys get a shop to dismount your spare? or did you do it yourself ? I tried prying it open so i can throw my sensors in but it wouldn't budge

I too would like to know this, were you guys able to unbead the tire simply by deflating it?
