alright, i grabbed some clear plastidip and semi-frost rustoleum spray paint to go over the plastidip coat to make it 100% reversible (cars a lease).

Let you know how it goes.

^^ i should let me dig em up somewhere. i removed after about a month though because i ended up liking the regular gloss look. i think i used about 2 coats.

btw why would you need to use semi-frost over the plasti?

Matte doesn't look right on most colors, on white cars it looks good but i'd prefer my shiny stock/isf tails over the dull worn out look that matt provides. I guess you have to have a certain look to pull it off.

just finished mine last night and got a good look at it this morning...i did 4 coats of clear plastidip, then a very light coat of "frosted glass" spraypaint. the end result looks blochy. nothing about it looks smooth. it basically has the feel and look of one of those 2x2 textured pieces of plastic for a ceiling light you would find in 1980s kitchen ceiling.

i took a wet rag to it afterwards and tried to rub down the cloudier sections, probably caused by the added coat of frosted glass spraypaint.

currently, it looks okay from 5 ft+, and amazing in parking garages, but up close in direct light...hmm...not so much.

i may try again with just plasti-dip, but i doubt it. the whole process takes about 4 hours.

all in all, plasti-dip will NOT leave you with the same effect as a smoothed down, sanded, matte taillight. the plastidip looks like a big unevenly textured popsicle.
