Unhappy Clunking Noise When going over Bumps???

Hi everyone,

I had my IS for many years now and recently I encounter a clunking noise when I drive over bumps. The noise seem to happen on certain bumps only. Not sure if it is the suspension that is making the noise or if it is coming from the engine compartment. Was curious if anyone here has a similar issue??

Thanks,

Dave

Do you have stock suspension?

If you've had those coilovers for a while, it might be time to rebuild them.

i have the same problem before every time i go to the speed bump i hear this clunking in the rear passenger side and it up to be strut's is bad so. what you could do to find out is that go to small speed bump with a little speed and see if you hear the sound coming from the front left or right side or rear left or right side of the car..

Ok looks like I am not the only one encountering this issue. My noise is coming from under the hood and not the rear. Going over speed bumps slowly doesn't make the noise so maybe it isn't the suspension. Could it be the engine mounts are loose??

I have the exact same thing. Over the speed bumps or any uneven surface on the road will make that sound from the front end of the car. I also thought it was motor mounts, but from reading other theads it seems it could be something with the ebrake. The dealer whats $120/h to look into the issue!
I don't know what to do also...

I have a similar problem when going over cracks in the road. It's like metal on metal clunking noise. I have a GS300 2006. My suspensions were replaced a few months ago. They are all brand new. I'm not sure what or where it's from. I can only hear it when the window is down. It sounds like it's coming from the front driver side. I've since brought it back to the mechanic, but we still have no clue what it is. I can't afford to have the dealer look at it. Can anyone help?

I have something moving around. Of course the dealership couldn't hear it when I took it in for the recall.

I have it too but I used my spare earlier this year and maybe didn't seat it properly. Or it could be the tool bag for the spare. I should just remove both and see if the noise persists but I forget now that I only drive the car on weekends...
