Bad gas milegae in my IS250
Hey guys,
I have had my car for 2 years now and it seems like my gas mileage has really dropped I used to get 30-31 miles to gallon now i'm lucky to get 25-26 . Has anyone else on here experienced these problems? Is there a recall or something I don’t know about to fix the problem? If anyone could shed any light on this situation I would deeply appreciate it!
Thanks,
Ryan

I'll suggest what I said in a similar thread: whenever you start the engine from cold, it runs rich burning extra gas to warm up faster. If you do a lot of cold starts, or short trips where the engine has to warm up again each time, your mileage will be horrible.

Most Winter MPG complaints stem from the introduction of "oxygenated" fuels.
Burns cleaner, but with a reduced BTU output. Wont be long till it required year round, I'm sure.

It is also possible that the gas stations have changed to a "winter blend" which would affect the MPGs. Once it changes back to the regular blend, the MPGs should go back up.
I noticed mine has dropped in city speeds on my 250 AWD, but during at freeway speeds not as much.
---------
On a side note, I was told that fuel quality in Canada, even thou it is higher priced is better than US because Canada has stricter regulated standards than US.

You probably wouldn't know it living in CA traffic, but the 350 can get nearly 30 too... flat, all highway steady speed I hit 29.7 tank avg for about a 300 mile trip over thanksgiving... (only time I actually saw >30 average for a tank in a 350 was on an earlier trip part of which I was coming down out of the mountains so I don't count that)
