When lights come on while driving it usually means there is a problem. Not that the item is functioning.
So the airbag "ON" should be off after awhile? You guys are talking about the airbag sign thats on the dash correct? where i place the cd in and what not?
Mines is always "ON" is that a problem? because I thought it was normal because having airbag on is safe.?
The passenger airbag should not always stay on (indicator is above the CD and says passenger -- check the manual). It should come on when someone is sitting in the passenger seat, otherwise it should be off.
Nope. Only recalls are covered outside of the warranty period. Sometimes dealers will do it out of courtesy or goodwill but that is usually not the case.
You couldn't be more wrong! If it's a safety TSB it will be covered. Mine was, and not as a "courtesy".

It specifically states in the service bulletin:
"This repair is covered under the Lexus Restraint System Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 72 months or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date."
Sorry, but if you're outside that warranty, it will NOT be covered. The only way to cover it outside the warranty is out of goodwill or out of your own pocket.
FYI, if you have electrical knowledge and experience this can be fixed for less than $10. The failure of the wiring harness is at the plug of the airbag, or at lease is was in my case.
Are you talking about when you just start the car? The lights stays on for a few seconds and turn off, that's normal and if it doesn't then there's a problem.
I'm talking about the red SRS light that normally comes on during start up and goes away...except mine doesnt go away sometimes.
Shiny250 call your dealer it the issue member are having. My came on a stayed on. Dealer kept my car for two days. They said to get it that the dash had to come off. Either way it's been fixed and I was passed my factory warranty.
I have this issue for the third time now and will be taking my (out of warranty) car in for diagnosis tomorrow. I documented this problem twice in my extended warranty term and my SA has been informed of the TSB. I feel this should have been addressed with having purchased the extended warranty. Reasonably, I would expect Lexus to cover the part and a good portion of the labor. The dealership has previously advised me that they could get the part comped, however, they likely would not be able to pay for labor... guess I will see how tomorrow goes and update from there.
Get it check even though it's not on. The code is still in the history.

Hey guys. I took the car in last week for the TSIB and found that the code matched that of the one given by the car. They completed the service, and now there is no more airbag light.
