my previous cars were debadged, now that the 2011 doesnt say "lexus" on the rear trunk, i think i will just leave the 350 since i honestly never see one, most have 250s round these here parts

^ and I love to see AWD flip over in the ditch when I pass with my RWD going slow and careful.
I don't expect my car to do any "perform" in any weather but dry clear day and a strait clear road.

As for the a is350s beating 335is in a 1/4 mile... I know our cars are capable of putting down impressive numbers but isn't the 335i also a low to mid 13 sec. car?

IS350 cannot beat a 335IS. 335IS is basically a 335 but with a OEM tune that doesn't void warranty. The 335 and IS350 are pretty much head to head in the quarter mile. But I did beat a few modded 335 on the track in my IS350 with intake and exhaust.

Funny you say that, I just took my 350 with 20's snowboarding this past weekend and had no issues. AWD is not MAGIC. It does nothing other then give you better acceleration. Your not driving a rally car.

Really though, I don't see the point of getting the 335IS over the M3. An M3 sedan has a base price starting at $55,000. A partially loaded M3 sedan would not cost much more than a fully loaded 335IS. The 335IS's price is laughable, in my opinion. I don't see a market for it.

Think, do you know how to tell what BMW 3-series it would be if it was de-badged? What things would you look for? Exhaust maybe? That is why I noted the front brake difference...
Anyways...this is a tangent to the OP...

The evidence? Look at the quickest 1/4 mile times for IS350s versus 335i's -
5 fastest bone stock 1/4 mile times for the IS350:
13.228
13.234
13.345
13.420
13.459
5 fastest bone stock 1/4 mile times for the 335i:
13.230
13.251
13.268
13.270
13.300
The ranges overlap making it a "driver's race," but the 335i's 1/4 mile distribution is slightly quicker. If anything, the edge goes to the 335i. I didn't formally take density altitude figures into account, but a rough, cursory overview reveals that DA figures are reasonably consistent between the IS350's figures and the 335i's figures on dragtimes.
Then you have head to head comparisons from various magazines. The 335i and IS350 are always within a few tenths of a second of each other with the 335i getting the edge every time.
Road and Track cites the IS350's 0 to 60 at 4.9 seconds, 1/4 mile = 13.5
The same source - Road and Track - cites the 335i's 0 to 60 in 4.8 seconds, 1/4 mile = 13.4
The disparity is slightly larger if you consider Car and Driver -
Car and Driver IS350 0 to 60 = 5.1 seconds, 1/4 mile = 13.7 @ 104 MPH
"You won’t be working too hard to repeat our 5.1-second 0-to-60-mph time"
Car and Driver 335i 0 to 60 = 4.8 seconds, 1/4 mile = 13.5 @ 106 MPH
zeroto60times reveals a similar story -
zeroto60times IS350 0 to 60 = 4.8 seconds, 1/4 mile = 13.3 seconds
zeroto60times 335i 0 to 60 = 4.8 seconds, 1/4 mile = 13.4 seconds
They don't post density altitude or (at least) temperature conditions for either run, however, so it's difficult to compare those numbers directly against each other.
Obviously it's very close. On paper it's close through the 1/4 mile. On a drag strip (i.e. "on the streets") it is close through the 1/4 mile. In any given bout between an IS350 and a 335i, you could imagine either winning depending on various "external" factors such as ability to launch cleanly off the line.
You'll find plenty of youtube videos of IS350s beating 335i's from a dig and 335i's beating IS350's from a dig.
All things suggest that it is a driver's race between the two with the slightest edge going to the 335i in a straight line through 110 MPH.

Oh, and as for the topic at hand - I don't know of anybody who willingly de-badged an IS350. IS350s are exceedingly rare compared to IS250s. The "350" moniker is something to be proud of, not something to hide.
