Default 2007 Lexus IS350 Extended Warranty

I just got a 07 IS 350 with about 18k miles on it last week. It's under warranty until mid next year... I was planning to get extended warranty on it and after reading the posts was planning to call up either Jerry Johnson or Troy Dietrich. The current warranty runs out on the car mid next year. I believe I can get extended warranty anytime before the current one runs out right? Because the dealer I bought it from told me I need to buy it this month itself and I didn't buy his statement. Also, should I go for the Lexus warranty or a third party one? I've heard a few names like Warranty Direct and CarCheck. Anyone in here have a third party warranty? I would like to hear your experience with it. Is one thing better than the other? I've new to the whole thing so any inputs would be appreciated...

I'd be very, very wary of third party warranties. I've heard way too many horror stories. Try to lock in an extended warranty through the dealership, the sooner the better. Congrats on the super low mileage btw.

I was in a similar boat a few weeks back when I got my 07 IS350 w/ 25k miles. I ended up getting the warranty through the dealer b/c I did some research of what the cost was to replace some of the most simple things and it far outweighed the cost of the warranty. In the end I got a total of 8 years/100k miles (so 4 years and 75k miles for me).

Piece of mind never hurts as well.

Thanks... Why do you say the sooner the better? Will the price go up if I wait? My warranty doesn't run out until June next year so I was thinking of getting the extended warranty sometime early next year before this expires... I already have a significant hole in my pocket with the car purchase so would like to wait before I splash out another 1500-1800 bucks... Also, do you know of anyone other than Troy or Jerry whose rates are competitive?

Yes I'm gonna get an extended warranty no doubt. And I'm looking for a similar one that you have.... A 7yr/75k or 8yr/100k... How much did it cost you if you don't mind me asking?

You can buy it from any Lexus or Toyota dealer and you can do so anytime prior to the factory one running out (4 yr/50k miles).

When I price checked last Jerry Johnson had a better price than Troy or Toby FYI

You may find this information helpful. I took my 06 IS350 to the dealership because I knew it was pretty close to my four years and my side view mirrors were never repaired properly. I get to the dealership and they tell me that it will cost $1,200. with a discount of 20% I was five days past the day I took posesion of my car. I call Toyota of Greenfield (1-800-448-1505 ) talked to Stacy Viens. Explained the situation gave them my cc# ($1,730 by the way for 7 years 100k miles) Got a commitment letter in a few days that I could use until my contract arrive from Lexus, which it did in two weeks. No worries. I took my Lexus for the spring recall had them look at the side view mirrors and now I am waiting for the $500 dollar check that everyone is talking about. Talk about feeling good and lucky.

Default Extended Warranty

I have been looking for an extended warranty.

After doing some searching. I found a thread on the ClubLexus GS section. Which turned out to be the best deal I could find.

I got a 6 year 70,000 miles Lexus Factory Extra Care platinum Zero Deductible Warranty for little over 800 dollars. This is the Toyota/Lexus warranty. Not a third party one.

The dealer I purchased my car from wanted 1200 dollars.

If your looking to purchase one. I highly recommand Jerry at Midwest Toyota.

Just send him your location of purchase, VIN and current miles to get a quote.

Default Warranty

The price is different for each model. And for the length of time.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but google didnt find anything more recent. I just wanted to post that I just called Jerry and Troy, and currently Jerry had the better price. He was almost $1000 less than a local dealer quoted me. Thanks everyone for making the recommendations!

This was my first post, but looking forward to many more over the next few years. Just got my IS350 and already love it!

These are all marked up approx 700 bucks over true cost. I worked for Toyota for 5 years.
