i got my '07 is250 last april with 40k on it and have had no problems. if you do the homework on it (pre-purchase inspection, carfax, maintenance records request) and all check out, id say go for it.

It shouldn't be.

At 90k you're not required to do anything different than what you did at 30k-

Oil change
Brake fluid change
Air/cabin filters (which you should be doing yourself, takes 5 minutes)

That shouldn't be more than $200 tops.

The trick with the services is to as for the individual items needed at each interval and not for the "X mile service" its a lot cheaper that way. With the "X mile service " the dealer will add in a bunch of "inspection" stuff that they probably don't do anyways and charge a lot of $$$ for....

OK, so I talked to her husband who is much more car saavy than she is. He said that the car was hard-loaded from the Lexus factory. It was a custom-order that someone backed out of at the last minute and that's when the woman's father who was in the dealership found out about it.

It has three position seats (memory), wood grain, rear sunshade and heated/cooled seats.

As far as maintenance, he's been using the dealership and Mr. Carwash for all maintenance and the only thing not done at the 60K maintenance were the spark plugs and PFC? valve which he said he would have done for us if we decide to purchase the vehicle.

Sounds like a pretty straight deal honestly. I'd say you're a fool if you pass this up. I bought an 06 IS250 AWD back in July w/59K miles for a little over
20K, granted mine is AWD with Navi but I felt like I got a pretty good deal. This sounds especially appealing since you know the previous owner personally, also you have access to all of the service records. As long as the recalls and TSB's are all current this sounds like a steal. If I were your son I'd be kissing your *** and begging you to buy me this instead of a TC. There's a lot of IS250 haters on here but, for your high school aged son, it seems like a great choice. Good luck!

WOW, $15K is a STEAL as long as it has a clean title and was well maintenanced (and it sounds like it was). My vehicle is almost there and is still running solid.

Your son is one LUCKY guy! I had to save my butt off to buy mine! Hope he appreciates it. I'd take that IS250 over a brand new TC any day!

That's the luxury package.

The sport package would have several additional things, but NOT have a couple of the ones you listed.

The premium package wouldn't have half the things you listed.

So it has the luxury package. (As I said, it's impossible to get more than one of those three, no matter how the car was ordered.. since many of the things in those packages are exclusive of each other or overlap each other).

If you wanted to know if it was actually "loaded" beyond that (it probably isn't, I've seen exactly 3 actually loaded 2ISes in the 3+ years I've been on here) you'd look for:

Navigation WITH Mark levinson- It would say Mark Levinson on the head unit right near where the CD/DVD slot is... this was a $1500 option in addition to the $2500 that "just" nav cost.

Headlamp washers (should be an extra button/switch next to the power sunshade switch to the left of the steering wheel)- only a $100 option here

rear spoiler (obvious on rear of car)- roughly a $300 option

PCS (pre-collision system, and likely the rarest of all 2IS options)- Car would have a different, much darker L emblem on the front grille- This was like a $2200 option and as I say, quite quite rare.

XM radio- Press the SAT button a couple of times on the stereo... if you get satellite radio it has it, if you only get AM it doesn't.- Roughly a $300ish option.

Well, the spark plugs are the only really expensive part of the 60k work, so yeah you'd want them to have done that prior.

Is it crazy to consider buying a Lexus IS 250 (2008) with 97,000 miles? Concerned with higher than I would like mileage. Any input?

Not crazy at all, as long as the service records are good. You can register at drivers.lexus.com, enter in the vin # to find the service records. I bought an 07 at 95k miles and still runs like a champ.
