Default Red out question.

Anyone ever tried spraying on the red? instead of the vinyl overlay?
for example this DIY - http://e30.bmwdiy.info/red-tails/index.html
wondering if it would look better.

the redouts from Aerotect are MUCH easier to put on and you can barely even tell the difference.

I considered it, but ultimately went with red outs for several reasons:
1. I love that I did not have to remove my tail-lamps regardless of how easy or difficult this is to do.
2. The red-outs can be purchased pre-cut.
3. Red-outs can be removed if I mess up or no longer want them (whereas if I decide I don't like the sprayed results, seems like a hassle to remove).
4. It took me about 10 minutes max to do and I did not have to wait for anything to dry. I could have driven it immediately.

If you like the permanence and consistency of spraying, obviously that would be the way to go for you! If you do try it, remember to post pics and let us know how it turned out as I'm sure there are some members who may be interested in doing the same!

I sprayed my old car, they eventually start to fade and they don't look so good after a while. Vinyl is definitely the way to go

Vinyl is definitely easier... no need to take out the tail lights... and I can remove them whenever I want...

I got the Rvinyl redouts. Very easy, and perfect cutout. My advice is stay away from ebay. It may be cheaper but i've had trouble with fitment.

Im tempted to do this... but man, if you f' up, It's a pain in the @ss to revert back or fix. Worse case, you end up have to buy new tails.

I'll stick with redout overlays.
