Valve Spring Recall Mishap @ the Dealership
Hey Guys,
Long story short, Took my car in Friday morning to get the valve spring recall done, along with the cam gears TSIB for my 2006 IS350. Pick it yesterday, get on the freeway, and my instrument panel lit up like a christmas tree. Check engine light, Check VSC, & trac light came on. On my way back to the dealership, I notice the my car is sluggish. Give it back to the advisor, ask for a loaner back because I need to be somewhere. Come back an hour later and my advisor tell me she doesn't know what's wrong with it yet and I should keep the loaner. She said she will call me today to update me.
My main concern is they quick fix whatever needs quick fixing in order to turn off the lights and keep them off & in the 5 miles or so that I drove my car damage was caused. What happens if anything arises in the future?
Thanks in advance guys!

i hooked a scan tool up to my IS yesterday and ran some monitors on it... afterward it started flashing and all kind of crazy lights, all the needles bounced around. but once it ran all its test nothing was wrong and no problems were found.. im guessing yours may of did something like that

Records will show that it didn't act up until right after you picked it up. The work itself should be under warranty right? As well as any damage due to technician error. It's just a good thing this DID happen as soon as you took your car, rather than the next day.

Along the same lines, does anyone know if a repair is performed under warranty, and then down the road the car goes out of warranty and the same mechanical error occurs again - that the warranty repair was supposed to fix (i.e. the valve spring breaks again)?
Is the subsequent repair also covered by the OEM even though the car may be now out of warranty, but the original warranty repair didn't repair the original problem?
I think it has been quite apparent that some of the Lexus TSIBs are fully correcting the problem.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think in the valve spring case it was due to a manufacturing flaw - a defunct machine produced springs with a score in them, which weakened them and caused them to fail.
