Default DIY to disable DRLs

so i called a couple of lexus dealerships and apparently in ontario its illegal for them to diable DRLs
wondering if there is a way to diable them myself? by tapping certain wires perhaps?

No. It has to be done with a Techstream device.

It's in the ecu, u need a scan tool to do it like the ones they have at Lexus, I had trouble getting it done but just talk to managers at different deanships and ask when ur buying something or getting a oil change from them

It's illegal to do this in Canada. No Canadian shop is going to do it.

Best bet would be to try a US dealership, but even then, they'll know yours is a Canadian model and they may not do it for you.

Isn't there a fuse you can remove to disable them? Would the fuse removal kill the highbeams?

^ Yes you can remove the fuse. There's a fuse box inside the engine compartment under the engine covers on the driver's side. I removed the fuse temporarily when my LED DRLs started flickering one side then eventually becoming dimmer. Then reinstalled it after I get another pair of LED DRLs.

It's the same exact bulb for the DRL's and highbeams. Just take the bulbs out. The low beams act as brights anyway as well. I have the Vled's SMT kit so I lost my high beams and I have NO issues with visibility at night

thanks for all the replies guys!

i live in a half rural area so i do need to use high beams at times.. so unfortunately i won't be able to take out the bulbs and loose the high beam function

and i guess taking out the fuse box will in turn loose the high beam function along with the DRL?

High Beam and DRL are one in the same. Just leave it on, it doesn't hurt

Try to become friends with a tech from toyota or lexus and they can do it. This is how I got my disabled for free. Friend of mine for many years was a tech at Toyota and he came with the laptop and disabled it in 5 min.

I had mine disabled on my F here in Georgia at the 1000 mile check up. It was the last time Lexus has seen my car.
