Default Dealer said 06 is350 drl can't be shut off?

Went in for the valve spring recall, requested to turn off the drl along with adding a few other (LPS) options. They'd said that for this year, the drl can not be turned off. ... Said they'd hooked it up to the scanner (or whatever it's called) and they couldn't get any access to the drl, I'm going back there in a few hours along with a printed sheet of the "how to" shut off the drl from this- https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...us-dealer.html and see what they say...

Why turn off a proven safety feature? Just wondering.

Probably because there's at least as many studies suggesting it's not a safety feature?

The NHTSA themselves found no statistically significant benefit from DRLs for passenger cars in the several common accident types they studied the statistics on... in fact several types of crashes the rate was slightly higher for passenger cars with DRLs.

(and accident rates in several European countries went up after mandating DRLs too)

Here is a comprehensive list of functions that can be changed or reset. DRL ON/OFF is on page four. Print this out and take it to the dealer. All of these changes are applicable for the 2006 model. My DRL's on my 2006 have been shut off since day one. Not all dealers will want to do it for 'safety' reasons, but keep pushing. If that doesn't work find a new dealer.

Dealer said they couldn't disable it, said if anyone would know then it's their master tech. WTF...? New dealer it is... At least I got all windows to roll down with the fob.

What is the damage of having them on ?

I wouldn't want to turn them off.

No damages, lots of owners (me included) just don't like it on.
