Can you get into the service screen?

Hold the Info button, then twist the light stalk 4 times. Lights off to on.

your screen digitizer probably went kaput.

if its under warranty obviously bring it in. Otherwise you'll have to scour around for just the screen. Buying a complete navigation replacement will also fix the problem. But it sounds like you only need a new screen.

When I shorted my nav out, I bought a replacement which came with another screen. Another fella complained of a similar issue, so I offered to sell him my extra screen. Later he tells me that it worked perfectly and all was well.

So I would start there.

from a stealership? theres no telling. I sold mine for 200 or less (i forget)....i was only looking to get rid of parts though.

I would start by scowering ebay and searchin on terms like is250 nav or is350 nav.

You might get lucky.

This happened to me a couple weeks ago. Lucky I was under warranty, but they ended up replacing the entire nav system - (cost them $2000!!!). I did some research and this seems to be a VERY common problem - especially in hot climates (I'm in Phoenix).

Or it could be that these screen don't last as long as people think. Maybe 4 years and they start going bad.

The navi on my 2001 GS300 went out about weeks ago, but the touch screen on the radio and everything else worked alright. I took it in for my 120k major service and they told me the navi computer was dead and a new one is $8k or a refurbished is $2400. I laughed at them and said it's not work it. Can't I go to a bestbuy and buy a new navi for $400-$500?

Sorry folks, I didn't realize I was replying in the IS line until after I sent the reply. You'll have to forgive me as that was my first reply. I'm a newbi. Take care.

Just get a good Garmin portable you pull out of the glove box when you really need it, you'll never want a built in nav system again.
