I really hope they don't give me crap....service kinda sucks at servco Lexus hawaii...they gave my gf a hard time about the brake tsib, until I told my gf when she called me on the phone to hand the guy the tsib and tell him u want it done anyway

I'm trying to get a video recording of it but it's difficult when it's intermittent

I too hear that noise on cold start.

What if you have more than 90K miles? What would be the outcome if you don't get it fix?

Thanks in advice,

So this was the 1 second rattle on cold starting? Or the faint rattling for about 5 min before the engine warms up? My 2008 does the latter. Does the 1 second rattle TSIB cover 2008s also? The TSIB says only 2006 and 2007.

I had the 1 sec rattle and I guess the TSIB covered it... they didn't even look anything up, I am assuming they have done it before because when I described the problem he knew exactly what it was... mine is an 08' so yeah they do cover it

How many miles have folks had on their 250's when the start up rattle began?

sorry to bring up a very old thread - but I've brought mine in 2008 IS250 twice. They couldn't duplicate the problem - however because of a misshap. at the service center on my last visit, the service manager asked for me to bring the car back in and they'll go forward with the change. Does anyone know if this has happened on their 08's?

The TSB was later updated to include 2008 models, so I assume at least some people have reported the issue on their '08's as well.

The guys said with the cam gear replacement they we're obligated to give me a free full tank of gas (good thing for me I dropped the car off with a little under a 1/4 tank haha) not sure if they are actually obligated to do so but it was def. a nice perk! Tried doing a search for it, do you happen to have a link to that?

I have always wondered about that rattle. I thought it was a Lexus thing. My car has been to the dealer many times and i have never had anyone bring this TSB up.

Hey guys. I have an 07 with just under 67k. I brought it in and told them of the problem with video proof. They are telling me its a $2500 bill but corporate said they would eat $1500 of it still slapping me with $1000 bill for something they know is COMMON problem. I have disputed the diagnostic fee since they told me what the noise was off the bat from viewing the video. The IS350 apparently have a recall for this but not the 250s. Why are they trying to charge me?

I don't think you need a warranty to take care of the cam recall.
