Sorry if this has been asked by now, but how should one go about applying that oil to the first three threads of the plugs? Just dip your fingers in the oil and use your finger to spread the oil around the first couple threads?

EDIT: Also, thanks for the write-up, javier.

Did this job on Friday. Easy DIY!! Only thing is there was motor oil on the back passenger plug. What does that mean?

Thank you for the DIY! I just replaced my spark plugs at 60K

I have a 2006 IS350. My engine bay looks different than the thread starter. He has the parts in the red circles, are they stock parts or aftermarket parts for something? Thanks

Thanks for the directions. I just changed mine. Took about an hour. The idle seems smoother now, especially on a cold start. We'll see if it makes any discernible difference on gas mileage next weekend when I put down some highway miles.

Default ticking noise after spark plug change??

Any ideas why it would it would have a pronounced ticking after spark plug change with stock plugs.
Does it take the ecu a while to learn how to use new plugs??

Thanks

Direct injection - it ALWAYS had that noise, you just may not have noticed it.

Question Oil on back passenger plug....

Hi guys,

I too have just followed this DIY instruction set for changing spark plugs > you guys really are great!

This said, I also discovered engine oil on one of the spark plug threads. It was the plug located nearest the firewall on the left bank when you're facing the engine with the hood open.

I just want to know if this is typical on our superlative engines?

TIA, Brendon
