The 135i is an ok comparison... but the Genesis sedan really isn't.
The genesis sedan is a different class of car... it's a lot larger...well over a foot longer, wider, and a lot heavier... it's more a GS-class vehicle...
And the V8 version starts at 43k, so it's priced halfway to the IS-F range. If you wanna compare performance #s between the Genesis and the IS-F, feel free
plus the Genesis I saw at a car show around its launch also had a significantly cheaper feeling interior... like, it was really nice for Hyundai, but not in the same class as Lexus.... it's possible they've since improved it I suppose.

Most readers (this includes both CL and Bimmer forums) have no clue how important gearing is and how it affects the acceleration. IS350 *IS* the faster car due to an huge advantage in the first 3 gears over the 335i's tall gearing. That extra torque from 1400rpm to 4700 rpm the 335i provides is out the window. BMW isn't slow, it's the IS350 that is damn fast. However there are other cars that will outperform the IS350 from roll. Guess what they are:
BMW 135i
BMW 335i
Genesis Sedan 4.6 375hp version
Genesis Sedan 4.6 385hp version
Infiniti G35 Sport sedan 6MT
According to Car&Driver the Genesis 4.6 375hp version takes you to 18.6 sec from 0-120 mph and 22.5 sec at 130 mph. That is sick. That is BMW 135i and 335i territory.

0-100 in 12.7 sec, lol.... I notice this car is VERY torquey once moving...unlike the IS350. You don't need to give it much gas to go faster in the Genesis (or the 335i) where you have to literally FLOOR the gas pedal in the IS350 if you're on Auto mode. That's the difference.

the IS350 is faster than the genesis 4.6 in literally every iteration. The IS350 is faster 0 to anything, up to 90 MPH.
The IS350 is also faster for every roll iteration up to 90 MPH.
30 MPH to 60 MPH IS350 = 3 seconds
30 to 60 Genesis = 3.5 seconds
40 to 70 IS350 = 3.8 seconds
40 to 70 Genesis = 4.0 seconds
60 to 90 IS350 = 5.3 seconds
60 to 90 Genesis = 5.4 seconds
40 to 90 IS350 = 7.5 seconds
40 to 90 Genesis = 7.9 seconds
Thus, for practical street driving applications (< 90 MPH), the IS350 is faster in literally every way compared to the Genesis 4.6 (from a dig or from a roll).
The source for all of this is Road and Track (I used road and track figures for both the IS350 and Genesis to stay consistent. In reality, the road and track figures for the Genesis were derived during testing in 60 degree weather whereas the road and track figures for the IS350 were derived during testing in 90 degree weather).
For speeds greater than 100 MPH, the Genesis is faster than the IS350 (obviously - V8 vs V6); however, one can make a strong argument that such high MPH roll acceleration is virtually irrelevant to everyday driving because driving above 100 MPH is considered a class C misdemeanor (in the U.S. at least).

If you really want a true sleeper car, I suggest you go with the BMW 135i. I've had experience with the 335i, it's a fantastic machine. I'm sure the 135i is no different, and you will have the capability to achieve 400 rwhp for under $2,000.

Why would anyone bring up a V-8 Genesis which has nothing to do with this thread? A car not in the class of the IS 350? A car with a V-8 with nearly 80 more hp? What on earth does it have to do with this thread? Should we bring up the S65, M5, RS6, 750, IS F? Makes no sense.
