I don't know if it may apply, but on my ES panorama roof, i had the same problem and found out it was the side rails, you can find a second outter arm that deploy when the roof is fully open. That outter arm tend to hit the main rail under hard bumps or heavy wind.

I decided to resolve the problem myself my putting foam tape between the outter arm and the main rail sliders an that shop the noise instantly.

I think that the second arm (outter one) is for blocking water from getting in when the roof is closed.

Hope that helps, look for that outter arm.
