There is no way im letting my plugs go 100k before I change them. I changed my plugs at 55k miles. I noticed the engine ran a little smoother and plus I got to inspeck and make sure things are going ok in the cylinders.

I did mine 2 weeks ago. The cost for me was $117 + $10 for the wrench extension. The dealer wanted to charge $415.

It took me about 2 hours because I had to drill the head off from one of the hex bolts that holds the large black box that sits under the removable top engine cover.

I will say that the 3 on the passenger side was the easiest (on the IS250). It took about 15 minutes to replace. The 3 on the driver side is a SOB. When I took out the plugs, there were past their time (68k). I have noticed better response, but MPG's are a little off. It could be due to my heavier than usual right foot.

Why not change them before, you will prally only change them once while you have the car, so might as well change them and use some freshies before u sell it. 100k miles is alot for most people

I have 50K on mine. I took it in and asked them to flush and replace the transmission fluid (which is also transfer case fluid on my AWD), flush and replace the coolant, and to replace the spark plugs. They refused to perform ANY of these services. I told them that the car is going to see alot less usage because I bought another car (so I won't be driving the IS much) and that I wanted to have all the fluids and plugs fresh. Still, the technician refused. They said the car needs no service.

They told me 100K for the Transmission fluid and the coolant and 120K for the spark plugs!!

I still think that at a minimum the transmission fluid should be changed.

Any advice?

the transmission is sealed, that's why they refused. There's a reason why you don't see change transmission fluid in the maintenance schedule. Coolant is 100k miles also

sorry for resurrecting this thread. but it seems like there is a big debate. I had two different service advisors tell me 60K and 120k for spark plugs. my gas mileage is about 25 on avg. mostly highway miles. I'm at 68K right now.

Change them at 60k intervals. I changed mine after 60k and they didn't look good at all.

no they were not answered. if supposedly qualified lexus service advisors are telling lexus owners to wait to change at spark plugs. I thought I might have had a isolated incident. but now i know it is not the case.

Many of the service advisors are a lot less qualified than you give them credit for (witness the people who have had their staggered wheels rotated at a "qualified" dealer for example- or the one guy who had one suggest his issue might be his power steering pump- a part that does not exist on the car).

I can't figure out why you want to take the occasional isolated ignorance of a dude at a local dealership over what it written down in the manual by the people who actually designed and built the car
