I wouldn't do it on a light colored car. Maybe on a SGM.
BTW, technically it is a violation to cover the reflectors, although I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket for this. Most cars to have the reflectors integrated into the tail lights, which isn't the case with the 2IS.

I'm guessing the reflectors in the taillight do not meet some regs (maybe they are too small or don't exist), therefore we have the additional reflectors stuck in the bumper.
I checked with a flashlight @ home. No reflectors in the tail lenses. Only the bumpers. I have an 07 so maybe it changed with the new lens design in 09.

I doubt it. Toyota/Lexus wouldn't waste the time or effort (not to mention the added expense) to add a bumper mounted reflector if it already had reflectors built into the tail lights. Now why they didn't just do that? IDK. Maybe the tail lights are too high?? I'm guessing maybe there's a DOT regulation stating that they have to be a certain height??
