Default Un-stagger an IS350?

I am the proud owner, once removed (wife's car) of an '06 Black/Black IS350. The only real cosmetic problem is a set of curbed rims and tires without tread.

My wife has picked out a set of wheels 18x8 ET35. While most of discussion on the forum revolves around putting larger rims and tires on I see that some have put same rim size on the front and back.

My question is:
Can I put the same size tires on the rims so that the tires can be rotated?

I realize this is a noob question, but.... I am hoping for some increased tire life for the car as an everyday driver and then putting the UHP tires on the stock rims if she gets into autocross with the car.

of coarse. no problem there. i actually think the stock IS350 look dumb with a tight fitting tire up front, and a bulky 255 tire in the back. they could have at least minimized the ratio o the sidewall

Is there a tire size that is recommended if I do go with the same size front and rear?

225/40/18 all around. dont increase your overall rolling diameter for no reason.

that would never fit on the rear rim. 235/40 or 245/35 would be what i would do. actually i would just try to do 245/35 if your not lowered, it might rub in the front if your lowered

My wife's '06 has the sport's package.... no aftermarket. Does that qualify as lowered? The wheels she likes are 18X8 ET35 for both the front and back.

Help me with my thinking. The advantages: rotation of tires
The disadvantages: traction, cornering?, slight speedometer correction.

Are there safety issues or anything else I need to consider?

225/40/18 would fit on a 8" wide rim without any problem, cause that's what the stock size up front is.

big question? Will the rims fit over the IS350 brakes? Remember it is 4 piston caliper and by your own account, being a "noob", that is something many new people look over as an IS350 owner.

The shop test fit the wheels and they do fit over the brakes.

I know the car is "tuned" for the staggered wheels/tires. My wife does not drive hard so "extreme" performance is not the purpose. I just need to assure myself that getting better tire wear through rotation will not put her or the car in any danger.

idk man. If youre saying the car is "tuned" for staggered wheels and you got yourself a $40K car, wouldnt you want to drive the car at optimal potential? Yea your wife doesnt drive hard or extreme but dude i would just get staggered wheels and drive the car like its supposed to be driven. Sounds like youre just trying to save a couple bucks on tires. I say you gotta pay to play man. Shoulda bought a Honda if you wanted to save money on tires. Im not trying to tell you what to do or anything. But anyways man thats just my opinion if my wife was driving an IS.

The more economical and correct solution is to get some OEM "take-offs" (wheels and tires) to replace the curbed wheels and worn tires.

245/40/18 is the best size I am searching to see if anyone has tried this size, have you got tires yet?
