Default Painting Calipers

Just looking for some tips on painting my calipers. I have high temp paint for the calipers. I also have High Temp Clear coat to paint over the decal.

Just wondering if i need some sort of high temp primer or something to promote adhesion?

I'm thinking of use some steel brush and rust remover to clean the calipers first and then paint on the high temp paint

lexus-is2, heres some tips to painting your calipers.

Buy 2 spray bottles of gunk brake cleaner, steel (or brass) brush for cleaning the calipers, if your using the paint brush type of paint kit go to a craft/hobby store and buy a REAL brush and dont use the kit brush.

Use one full can of brake cleaner for each pair of brakes, clean them throughly with the wire brush using libral sprays of the cleaner, remember the better you prep the better your paint job will be, after you've brushed your brakes and sprayed them with cleaner, get a damp mf towel and wipe it down, don't assume its clean by just using the spray. Then when you apply the paint to the caliper, 1st coat go very light just to get paint on there, 2nd coat is where you fill in the color. As for hitemp clear? you dont need it, i have a sticker on mine with no clear over it, no problems... ALSO because i have no clear should i decide to change the sticker or it gets nicked due to rock damage or w/e i can change it easy... you really dont need clear.

and one more important item, when you finish painting, look at the time and dont go driving the car till that time the next day, allowing the paint to dry (cure) is very important... i painted my brakes in 07? 08? havent touched them up once yet *cept for nicks on the edges from pulling rims* and they still look fresh.

I've got high temperature engine enamel paint. It's meant for painting manifolds etc. Can I use this also for the calipers?

^ I think that's what my dad used on his M Roadster calipers. Turned out pretty nice.

Please don't do caliper covers. DIY's are special, but caliper covers are way too ricey.

if you like those you should check out a little gizmo you insert into your exhaust tip to make it sound like a turbo.
