So weird, this happened to me for the first time tonight. Just washed, drove to my folks place, as soon as I turned down their street, I noticed that my lights got really dim. When I pull into the driveway, I can tell that the driver's headlight is out (shining on the garage door). Stepped out to confirm, it was. Turned off the engine, turned the lights off then on again, and it was working. They are factory HID, no condensation, no damage. Not sure if I should take it to the dealer since it's working again.

am having the same problem with my passenger side headlight i notice it go out couple of times but came back on while playing with the switch, i thought the harness was probably loose so i tired to remove the plastic covering which caused me to brake all the clips if it keeps happening i will switch the bulbs to see if that's the problem.

Bulb problem too
When I start the car, the driver's side bulb will be on but the minute I put it into gear, it will turn off. I'll switch them off and then switch them back and the light will come on. The minute I start driving the bulb will go out again. it's not the bulb since it will shine ok when in park.

yup i had the same problem. i took it to the dealership once and the headlight started working so they told me there was no problem. for the whole next month it kept turning on n off whenever it wanted. so i called them and told them they hadnt fixed the problem. so if u can try to bring it in when the headlight is out. in the end they ended up just replacing both bulbs as theyre under warranty

this is not a ballast problem, as the oem 2is HID system in other 2is's have demonstrated the same issue. as a matter of fact, if the OP can swap the bulbs side to side, chances are the OP can duplicate the issue - but this time on the other side. the same thing has happened to many others and myself, and no one can figure out why.
based on what's been posted here in the 2is section by others, it appears that the 2is oem HID system is very finicky with bulbs, oem and aftermarket alike. some have gone on aftermarket D4S bulbs for a very long time, while others have had oem D4S bulbs go out in a few months. a search can confirm that for you.
some have suggested that it is an inherent issue with the design of the oem HID system, while others have said that it is due to not "properly" turning on the HID's or cycling them on/off too rapidly. it could be a combination of both; who knows?
if anything, take it back to the dealership and have it taken care of by the factory warranty.
and for those NOT under the factory warranty, time to hit up CL vendors for D4S bulbs.
