Lol get it done perfessionally! Not worth a diy unless your expirenced with tint. You could get a lot of bubbles. Just my two pennies then...

Thanks for the advice. Yea maybe I'll have a professional install them. What should I expect to pay. I called 1 shop and they wanted $160 for both lenses. Why so much if my whole car cost $199 to have done?

If you find a place that sells the tint film and have them install it as well, it should be cheaper rather than buying it then having a shop install them.

Default Tint

I had mine done here in California. The Clublexus sponsor is

www.aerotect.net/Auto.html

If you are too far away. They will sell you a kit made for your car.

why is it just about every place i called to have the tail lights tinted insist using film would result is a horrible out come and insist to have them painted instead? i think i may have them permanently redout the taillights instead of using the crummy film. this way when i turn my lease back in they won't really notice a difference in tail lights as if i returned the car and they were smoked.

i'm interested in the painted vs tint question as well. i know i've heard some people say that paint would be better, but where would you find someone to paint tail lights professionally??

I had the same problem with shops... they told me the tint film would be "horrible".

And if you want to paint your own tail lights... do it yourself!! Or send them to me! ha Cost me maybe $25 and most of a Saturday afternoon. If you have any questions about it or want pic's, let me know.

thanks alot man I really appreciate it. I would really like to see some of your pictures and maybe a little step my step instructions. Lol. I came to the conclusion that all I want to have painted is the amber portion of the taillights red. Redouts just don't cut it. I found a shop that will do the job for $125 total. They said the reds will match exactly. Do you still think this is something I can do on my own?

The taillights on the 2IS are very hard to tint with a film because of all the curves. I had a shop re-do it three times and it still wasn't perfect. I would recommend getting them painted, just don't do it too dark or cops will hassle you.
