Question What is this?

Simple question, just curious as to what the box in the center is/what it controls etc? (not the fuse box on the right)

Any info would be great, Thanks!

The Fuse box is on the right. I'm not sure what the other box is... (First post updated to clarify)

Doctor, there is a problem in the **** pit!

What is it?

It's a little room at the front of the plane with the pilots in it, but that is not important right now...

thats actually the ECM/ECU. i know this because mine got broken in my car acident(front end collission) and i had to wait 2 months for the backorder piece of **** part to get over here from japan...

its expensive, don't touch it :P

edit: is it official called a engine control "module" or engine control "unit"? haha idk. i have my broken one laying around somewhere. what actually broke was one of the mounting tabs, the actual circuit board and stuff is still in tact. i took it apart for fun. if you take it out of the plastic cover part, there is a metal case inside(which my tab broke off) and then open up the metal case to reveal a circuit board inside.

I've opened up that center box, it does look like another fuse box, but it's actually a PCB.... so leaning towards ECU/TCU

This is what I suspected, but am wondering if it has ANYTHING to do with the P/S?...

Not directly. It is undoubtedly the ECM (Toyota speak - all the other manufacturers call it an ECU). It looks like this inside:

It would be a bad idea to have electrical interference anywhere near this computer.

The power steering ECU is underneath the battery tray.

This might also be helpful to understand what's going on:

Great post lobuxracer!

I really appreciate this info!

I can tell you that both of my Ballasts are very close to both the main ECU and the P/S ECU as recommended in muzzman1's HID Install thread.

That tells me that if my P/S problems were caused by the ballasts, it could have been either one. So now I know to move both ballasts further away from both ECU's...
