If it's brand spankin' new and you don't want to damage the front bumper, wrap it with painter's tape. I drove mine to Vegas last May, I already had around 22,000 miles on it, and it was 2 years and 3 months old when I did so and already had rock chips in the bumper and hood. Make sure you're up on maintenance and that if you are going to be going over the next 5k, maybe get the service done before you go.

If u try to stay away from the big rigs u can get less chance gettin rock chips... but hey I say if that's what ur worried about then u shouldn't... its gonna happen anyway... like it or not... I have a couple on my 09 and it sucks... the clear bra thing is not to hot... looks bad when it gets old... can u just peel off when its old???

I took my car down to Vegas from SF when i had less than 1k on the odometer. I commute to work everyday on the freeway, so I wasn't too concerned about the rock chips. I just looked at mine, and I have maybe 2 rock chips so far and I'm closing in on 5k miles. If it's your DD car, a trip to Vegas is nothing to worry about. If it's your weekend car, drive slow and stay farther back from cars.

I agree that u should just keep a distance from the cars infront of you. I was always cautious on not wanting to get any rock chips and drove slow on the freeways but it happens and I got like two rock on the hood and one on the bumper before I was even at 4k.

Just drive it and enjoy it. It's going to get chips eventually. Tape looks like azz. Slowing down and not following trucks (or cars) closely is the best recipe.
Have fun.

I just came from Vegas with my TSX a couple of days ago...Oh man did I find new scratches in the front...Dam construction on I-15 but yeah stay away from the big rigs, and just keep your eyes open ahead from flyin *****.

yeah the I-15 really is gonna look great later on, but all the construction there left my loaner car all swirled up and badly scratched. to bring your new ride there, be extra careful.
