I was told that its not good for the transmission if you put staggered rims on an AWD car. I have an IS250 AWD with 275/30 19 in the rear and 235/35 19 in the front. Can anyone help me with this?

your good, your still within the diameter allowed dont sweat it. plus our AWD is a 30/70 which mean 30% to the front wheel and 70% to the rear wheel which mean it almost like a RWD so that why your allowed to run stagger but limited to certain tire size

Just keep the overall diameter within <1% and you'll be fine.

I would recomend running the same width wheel and same tire size all the way around. For the staggered look, just run a lower offset in the back.

You can also run staggered widths and keep the tire size the same, or close to it.

I ran 19x9 +22 with 225-35-19 and 19x10 +22 with 235-35-19

so wat size tires should run?? i just bought a new pair for my rears which are 275/3019 wat tire size would u run in the fronts??

Not sure what keeping the diameter under 1% means... Could I swap the stock 17 wheels/tires with the stock 18 wheel/tire size without problems?

you have 19s on a is250 awd. I want to do that but am worried about the performance drop. How bad is the diffrence in performance for your car

I have 19" IS-F wheels staggard setup on my 250AWD. Performance to me is same if not a little crisper. Handling is much improved. No issues with the AWD. Just make sure you keep within the tire sizes suggested here on the forum. Lots of guys with AWD are running staggard setups with success.

Do you guys think I can get away without damaging the car by running 225/50/17 front and 225/55/17 rear? According to this calculator, it's about 3% difference

just wondering why do you wanna run stagger on 17"s way to small to make a diff in look? or you trying to do it with the stock tires which is a waste of time and money

I got a good deal on winter wheels and tires before I picked up the AWD. I was actually looking for RWD but I guess I'll play it safe and try to match them front and back for the awd system.

I mean keep the overall diameter within 1%. 99% of people you talk to online are going to have no idea what they are talking about.

Example:

255/35/19
225/40/19

Not saying those are perfect for an ISx50 but the difference in diameter is only .225%. That setup would be totally fine to run on an AWD IS250.

I hope you're not running these sizes because both are over 4% differential from stock.

Stock 225/45/17 = 25" Diameter

255/35/19 = 26" Diameter (4.2% off)
225/40/19 = 26.1" Diameter (4.5% off)


I ran:

225/35/19 = 25.2" Diameter (.9% off)
235/35/19 = 25.5" Diameter (2.0% off)
